Streetwise California Map - Laminated State Road Map of California Map – Folded Map, December 27, 2007

I am very disappointed with this map. It folds out about 8 inches wide and about 22 inches tall to show you the entire state of California. Well, if you want to see state highways, good luck. Because the state is condensed into such a small area, they have sacrificed most of the detail of state highways. If all you want to see is the major freeways between Eureka and San Diego, I guess it's OK. But not is you want to take any level of back roads or visit smaller towns.

I was attracted to this laminated and foldable map due to how much use I've gotten from a similar product while walking around Washington DC. In hindsight, I should have ordered a traditional paper map. The laminated map's presentation is very nice, but due to its size it lacks the detail I needed to navigate the state effectively.

it is handy, folds nicely and durable. Lots of details on a small fold out map. Tried to replace a lost California travel map for the car. This map is smaller than normal fold out maps. Would of liked a larger map, Northern CA on one side and Southern CA on the other. This has all of CA on one side and some city maps on the other side. Too much for one small fold out map, IMO.

I must have missed something in the description. The map is a rigid accordion. It measures 8 1/2" by 3'. And they somehow manage to fit the entire state of California on 20" (X8 1/2"). Needless to say (but I will anyway) that you need a magnifying glass to see any kind of detail. I thought laminated meant a map made of waterproof paper. I love those maps. So, now I know, I'll never buy a "Streetwise" map again.

I was really impressed. This folds easily and logically (unlike most other maps). It has lots of detail and will get you around CA. It folds back up easily. It's great for the backpack or travel kit in your car. You know it will hold up and you can pull it out and use it and not worry about it falling apart and getting wet or dirty. I have the CA map but there are others that are equally good for the areas they cover.

Overall, not a bad map. Print is smaller than I would have liked, and I found it easier to navigate using an atlas (but who wouldn't). In the absence of an atlas, however, this would work just fine. The lamination made it easy to store and not worry about it getting torn during travel.

Not big enough to be useful and certainly not worth the money. For a state the size of California to be put on such a small footprint is ludicrous. I returned it.

Nice map of California - I use it a lot at work to look up unknown towns and cities. It is laminated so it keeps its shape nicely to use over and over again. It shipped quickly...I recommend this map. It is complete and easy to read.
