Thorough and Informative!
What an exceptional resource! Lisa and John cover everything you can - and can't - think of when it comes to starting a home-based food business. This is such a treasure trove of information that spans from legal forms to self-care, I'm seriously impressed with the breadth and depth of its usefulness. With this book by your side, I'm sure NOTHING is impossible!

Great Book for Beginners to Homemade Food Business
Good manual for anyone wanting to start a homemade food business. I am benefitting from this advice as I prepare to take my fermented foods to farmer’s markets in my area. Laws vary from state to state and there is a lot to learn about regulations, applying for permits, marketing, packaging, pricing, and other business matters. Having a good product is just the start. This book will guide you on the way to selling that delicious homemade food you’ve been told would be great to turn into a business. I love this book because it shows the way to start small without a large cash outlay, and see if this type of business is for you. Very encouraging. Black and white photos are uninspiring, but the information is great.

Hopeful not perfect
I was hoping it would give me a few more ideas of things to sell that are homemade.

What a great book!!!
Book is an easy read, and is loaded with information about selling baked goods from your kitchen. I recommend this book for anyone who is thinking about selling home made bakery from their home. Most importantly for me was the information on licensing, when do you need one.

Like a loaf of bread with too many air pockets
This book is rather mediocre. It smacks of an author trying to extend the page count. Some of the information is incredibly basic. Some of the information is expounded upon where it's not necessary, for example, there is a list of reasons why someone might want to get into the food business. The list is great. The sub chapter where you explain each item on that list in multiple paragraphs is dull and forgettable. Explaining that different states have different laws makes sense. Explaining it repeatedly in multiple chapters is redundant. I suppose I wanted more of a manual and less of a hodgepodge of anecdotes. That's not say there isn't good info in here, it's just that 50% to 75% of this book could have been trimmed and I would have walked away equally as informed and 3 times as happy. On a personal note I'm annoyed that the printing is black and white but includes a heat map of the laws in the USA. Problem is all the grey states look the same.

Home made Cottage Food Industry in the USA
This book is great for those wanting to start up a home based cottage food if you live in the USA. If you live in Canada it is still useful but the book is focused on the USA and about 60% of the material is of limited use.
