The 2019 Head Supershape i.Rally skis are the Formula One equivalent in the ski world. Like an ultra-fast racecar, the i.Rally skis can turn on a dime, accelerate through corners, and love being pushed to the top end of their performance capabilities. They even share some technology as well. The K.E.R.S. system is an energy storage and feedback process that is similar to what F1 cars use for regenerative braking. The material harnesses energy that you put in and releases it when called for. As a result, the skis will stiffen the faster you go, resulting in a more race-like performance. Alternatively, the skis will perform well at slow speeds too. They'll soften as you slow down, so they're not abusive at lower speeds. This type of technological advancement is typical of Head, who loves to put this type of engineering in their products. From a more meat and potatoes standpoint, the wood core with metal laminate is a more basic way to build a ski, but it's worked for Head's race skis for a number of years, so there's no reason it wouldn't work for this ski, too. At 75 mm underfoot, the Head Supershape i.Rally is on the narrow side, even for front-side skis, so beware if you take it off-piste, flotation is not its strong suit. What it lacks in flotation it more than makes up for in carving ability. This thing rips corduroy like no other. The 2019 Head Supershape i.Rally skis are the absolute ultimate in trenching skis.
