Not a problem in or of itself, but if the threads on the acrylic part ever get 'boogered up' or stripped, these mills will be useless. I would advise anyone who has these to exercise EXTREME care when refilling and re-attaching the base. It takes a while before you need to refill them, but when you do it is really simple, just unscrew the very bottom metal base and scoop in salt or pepper. We recommend keeping a freezer bag of your salt and pepper to make it easy to scoop in the contents versus trying to pour in salt and pepper. There are six people in my parent's home where these are used, I'm told even with regular daily use they don't need filling that often. We recommend using small to medium granule salts, not over filling them and giving them an upward swing to release the contents of the mill around the grinding rod to allow for easy/smooth grinding. These are really neat salt and pepper grinders! I love that they are small and sleek. They put out the exact right amount of salt/pepper when you use them. It is perfect for adding a pinch of salt or pepper while you are cooking or while you are eating. The clear base is a nice addition, it keeps them looking nice and "clean" even when they are sitting out. I will say that it is somewhat difficult to push one of mine. I am not sure if it is the salt that is in it, or if it is a flaw in the product. I was thinking that with use it may get a little easier to push, but I haven't really seen that yet. Also, it's not too bad, there is a scratch or a water mark or something that goes around about half way up the bottom metal section. Like something messed it up in production. Despite these things, I still think they are very cool, fun, and make a great one handed grinder.
