Eliminates slick deck on icy mornings
This really does a great job of keeping my deck from being slick. I cross about 10 feet of our deck every morning and evening to get to our barn, and it gets really slick on cold mornings. This has completely eliminated that problem, even when it's just really icy out rather than snowy. Our old dog gets much better traction now too. It didn't curl too badly, and I just put each end under an old door mat to hold it down and in place. The only issue I have had is that our pup thinks it's fun to rip apart, and she has torn up one end of it. It really is very much like a coconut's husk but looser and thicker, so it tears easily. Fortunately I don't think she's ingesting it (that would be bad). And after a few admonishments, she seems to now be leaving it alone.

No Slip Ice Carpet Came to the Rescue!
Shortly after moving into our new (old) house, we discovered that the front porch and steps became dangerously slick when wet -- and even worse when the temperature dipped, snow fell, and ice accumulated. In lieu of using corrosive salt, we looked for another option to make our walkway safe; we decided to order the Extra Wide No Slip Ice Carpet (10' x 30") from Amazon. To our relief, it has worked very well to eliminate the dangers of slippery steps. After unrolling the carpet, the only issue we faced was getting the stiff material to contour to the steps we were covering. However, after we fully extended the carpet on the steps and walkway, my husband placed a few bricks along the edge of the stairs to keep the carpet in place. That plan worked immediately, and the carpet has stayed in place for several weeks, even during harsh weather and high winds. This no-slip carpet is not beautiful to look at, but it a great solution to the problems or dangers posed by slick stairs and walkways... P.S.: Should note that we purchased this product as a TEMPORARY fix for a permanent safety hazard. When the weather warms up, we plan to install decorative treads on the steps and textured paint on the porch.

Interesting Substance
This is an interesting product. When there is a lot of snow and then deep cold, we tend to get a lot of ice by our front door. The front door is about six stairs up from the walkway, so I wanted something that would provide traction and make me feel better about people coming to our front door. The carpet is made out of some sort of straw/fabric, and it is fairly easy to cut, although it comes in a roll and so the end is contorted. I cut enough for six stairs and a landing mat. What happens is that with pressure from footsteps, the ice will form around the fibers and hold it in place. It actually did the job quite well, not only providing sure footing but also it helped to reduce the ice buildup on each step (as ice formed, it was easy to knock off since it is flexible). In the end, if you are having issues with ice, i'd recommend it. It's not the prettiest thing, but it works well for a winter.

Recommend this product!
It was difficult to lay out and had to be pressed down with much weight to flatten then again to conform. In single digit temps, snow, and ice it did provide a secure path. Even with a puddle of rain water that later froze it still provided a much safer surface. I left in one continuous piece that runs from porch under entry door and keeps from tracking snow into the room. Worth the cost but needs time to uncurl then mold to the application. No slip or movement once it was down, and required nothing to anchor it after a few days weighting it into place.

but it gets pretty icy. Laying this down after a hard freeze ...
I bought this for a buddy who busted up his leg and will be in a wheel chair for several months. A ramp was built to his front door, but it gets pretty icy. Laying this down after a hard freeze is all it takes to have great traction! If there is light snow, works too. However, heavy deep snow will need to be shoveled to get a wheel chair to roll.I also cut up a second carpet to use for a throw-down mat for getting into and out of his car so he doesn't loose traction. Great for any application where you don't want to slip, or to place something you don't want to slip.

for we had purchased this for our ramp for the elder female dog we have to make it an easy up and down
I could not imagine using this on steps as the picture shows, for we had purchased this for our ramp for the elder female dog we have to make it an easy up and down. We ended up very shortly replacing it with indoor out door carpet, that would not come apart as this product seem to do in a very short time and tears very easily. Packaging was a normal longated box of med. grade.

Didn't last long
I will probably throw it away. I was trying to keep guest from tripping and this would lay down right. I even tries to use water to make it stick the the snow/ice under. Tried to use it with snow on the wooden steps and without. Before and after a storm just to get the thing to lay down. When I first laid it down I put my hand weights to get it to form. It could work in another situation.

Great for wet slippery decks
It worked to keep slipping under control in the winter on a wet deck, but sort of started falling apart at the edges rather soon. I rolled it up in the spring when it was dry and will reuse again for another winter. That's probably it's life span.
