Grizzly Industrial G7156 - Premium Milling Vise - 4"

I needed a milling vice for my grand sons to use to learn on and this works just fine for the purpose. let the mistakes begin.

Have not had a chance to use this vice yet. Does not look too bad, but not great either. Some surface rust, cast handle has visible porosity, and standard screw threads instead of acme. However mostly disappointed that add clearly states “made in USA”, but vice I received is clearly marked “made in China”. That was one of the main reasons I choose this one. Might send it back yet!

Paid a few dollars more for this one, based on the photo in the Amazon ad, but the pictured vise is NOT the vise you will actually be sent. Here's a quick breakdown of the things missing from the vise that are in the picture:1. It isn't branded as Grizzly anywhere on the vise. Yes, it is absolutely the same generic, green vise you can find for half the price, everywhere else. That picture is not what they will send you, you are paying Grizzly to box up a generic vise.2. The bolt-down holes on the sides are not fully enclosed. They are the same sloppy, wide open generic bolt holes you can find for much less money. (Starting to get the picture?)3. The vise does not have the nice degree indicator for the swivel on the side, obviously because that piece of metal is wide open on the vise you will actually get. If you use it to swivel (you probably won't), you have to check underneath the vise. Not a huge deal for me, but gives you an idea of what to expect.Not pictured, but I'm pretty sure the vise I got wasn't level in the y-axis. Took it off the swivel plate, and haven't bothered to tram the vise in the y-axis yet, but my table is pretty much perfect, and when I clamped the vise in to clean a piece up the other day, I got noticeable ridges between cuts from the work piece being angled. Could have been my clamping, but I don't think so.Either way, don't get suckered by the picture, that's not what they will send you.

This Vice is ROCK solid! It fits my mini mill perfectly. For the price this vice out performs may ones that are X2 as much

I agree with a previous review after first hand inspection of the product. It is not quite as pictured. Mine is sloppy through and through. The degree marks on the ring (in the event you actually use them for anything) are not clear, nor are the degree numbers. I can barely tell 90 apart from 60. There is a blank space on the side where presumably you make your own mark for the scale indicator, but there is not a nice yellow pointer as shown. It is green, but doesn't say "grizzly" anywhere on it. Movement is decent, and it is definitely a hefty chunk of steel. It will do the job, but this is kind of a situation like fast food: You walk in, look at the menu and see a perfect burger on the sign, you order it, and it is this crushed sloppy wet sandwich with the cheese kind of off to one side... etc. Still tastes like a burger, still full of calories, but not exactly what you thought you were ordering.

Very well made product. Strong and precise. Excellent addition to my shop. It exceeded expectations. Fast shipment. I recommend this product without reserves.

The quality is what you would expect for the price. Don't expect high repeatability when clamping. It holds the work under light and moderate loads. I have not tried it under very heavy cuts and I don't plan to. The rotation plate is OK and clamps solidly.
