Nice but soft light
I purchased three of these to put on the gutter on the side of the detached garage for some lighting along the sidewalk. They are nice in that they install easily and nicely blend right in with the white gutter. They are not very bright even after charging on a very sunny day and where they are they get at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight. However, I didn't expect them to be flood lights and they add a nice touch to the yard at night. There is enough light from the one above the door that I can see to put my keys in the lock so they work well enough for what I wanted and needed. I would give these 3.5 to 4 stars.UPDATE November 2012: I just wanted to add that these have been going strong since installation about 6 months ago, they charge up every day and so far have lasted longer than a lot of other solar lights available.UPDATE June 2013: These are still working after 14 months and they are still using the original solar batteries! Changing this review to 4 stars!UPDATE December 2014: Incredibly these lights are working just like they did on day 1 and I still have never had to change the batteries!! That's a total of 32 months! They are just as bright and reliable after all this time and they have survived 2+ years of heavy St. Louis winter snow/ice and blistering summer heat.

Works great
I ordered this to put around some areas of the house to give a little light at night w/o wasting electricity. I was a little unsure if this would really do anything, especially considering some of the solar lights out there that are so dull and quit working right away. I was really surprised at how good this really is. It's easy enough to attach to the gutter, you just fit it over and then screw it down to tighten. There's a little flat piece that holds it tight, so you never make any holes. Let it charge and come nighttime, there's light. Even if you don't get a full day of bright sun shining directly on it, it works. I put mine on a dark corner of the house, near a tree and where it's shaded part of the afternoon. It still works. Not only does it light up, but it gives a good amount of light, so I can see the whole corner area of the house, not just a tiny candle amount of light in a spot. The light spreads quite a distance, and it lasts for hours. I've gotten up in the wee hours of the morning, while it's dark and it's still giving off light. I am very impressed. I plan on getting several others, and though they are for gutters, I'm going to adapt them for other areas too.

ok for sheltered but bright location
This light is ok, but there are better options. I purchased 3 different solar motion-sensor lights to see which one worked best for me. I installed them on my gutters over and around my front porch and walkway. This light does not seem weather-tight at all and I'm afraid it won't last long. It doesn't hold its charge well either -- approx 6 hours after a bright day and only about 3 after a dreary day. I like the installation clip on this light, but both Frostfire and TSSS solar motion sensor lights worked much better than this one. They were about $5 more but well worth the difference, and they both had much brighter and longer-lasting light. Unless you have a very bright and protected area which needs this round light, I would go with another option.

Awesome light for close quarters
This is a very cool solar light. It is NOT a flood light; you will NOT be able to work under the glow this light produces.I needed a light source on the side of my home where there was no light at all. However, my neighbors house is a mere 10-15 feet from mine, with windows facing me. I did not want anything that would blind someone looking out their window. This was the perfect solution. It was very easy to attach to my gutter, once I was able to unclutter the garage to get to my ladder :) It produces a very soft light, think of a 3 way lamp on the lowest setting. It's just enough for me to see my dogs and the water faucet, and it spreads across a decent area. Straight out of the box, it turned on at dusk. After a full days charge, it produces light for at least 4 hours (I haven't stayed up late enough to see how much longer it might stay on). This was so easy to install, produces a wonderful soft light source, and looks great. Even my neighbors have asked for the link to order these lights. I'll be purchasing a couple more to put on the other side of my house and over the garage doors.

Plenty of light
These are being use instead of solar light on the ground. Weed eaters were eating them to the point they worked poorly. Attached one about every 20ft on the front side and it gives the look of a well lite house while not using electricity. Have had several people in the neighborhood ask what they are and where to get them. We've had two in the back for two years and they still work well and no batteries have been changed. These are NOT spot lights, more mood lights than anything but they do add a nice look at night for low cost. One year later:All four that we bought still work as well as the day they were put up. Have done nothing in the way of batteries. We have two out back that are at least 3 years old and they work as well.

4 Stars
Decent light(s)I purchased 4 of these units for my gutters on the back patio in the South. They receive a boat load of sun all day long. The best way to describe these is "moon lighting". They will light up a area as the moon light would,Good for areas in darkness etc but do not expect them to light up the backyard or your patio like normal lighting. Solar is not there yet but it will be. If you plan to put these in a area that is lit up ( front yard with street lights etc) they wont help much. Our Patio is in complete darkness and they do a decent job of lighting the patio, Just enough that you could see an animal or see if anyone was standing there.
