Computer software built for to meet your needs, not Microsoft's or Apple's
Windows 10 or for that matter, all Windows operating systems are not designed with the users in mind, they are designed to make Microsoft more money and cause all sorts of aggrivation when they force untested software updates, that can be catastrophic to your computer. Especially since the May 27, 2018 update, removed all restore points, deleted backups and removed the backup settings and hid the "create restore points", because they want you to reset your computer (losing all installed software) so they can control your computer. At the same time the turned my D drive into a virtual drive, destorying the 1 - TB SCSI drive. I had to replace the drive with a 1 - TB SSD but all data on the original disk drive was gone, and not backup because earlier updates, turned backup off and destroyed all restore points. This is because Microsoft want you to put everything in their clloud. You can relax with Linux, because it is cheap, only updated twice a year on fully beta tested updates (you are the beta tester with MS updates). Linux is tremendously more powerful than Windows 10 or even Windows Server and provides 100s of other services MS Windows does not. However, surprisingly, that old Windows computer you were using with Windows that kept getting slower and slower until you replaced it, will run cirlces around any computer running Windows, once you install Linux on it. Windows and third party software is not typically tested significantly enough to check for "memory leaks" and MS is notorious for havin lots of sotware products with memory leaks that eventually take up all of your RAM, which meana that the hard drive is working as your RAM at snail paced speeds. You will not run into this with Linux, plus very few viruses are written for Linux, and you can check port status at any time and close all unnecessary ports, to avoid hackers finding a way into your computer (try doing this with Windows 10, which will not even let you tell it that the network its connected to is in your home or office, it defaults to being on a coffee house WAN and presumes you have zero protection, so it will not connect to the Internet. Lynix will not give you these problems and everything can be configured the way you want your computer to work. After all, what operating system do you think Microsoft uses for its server farms for cloud networking (hint - not Widows). They use what almost all large companies with thousands of servers, Linux's big brother, UNIX. If you are as old as me, your first computer experiences were command lines in MS DOS, which is a modified version of Open VMS. However, Linux does have GUIs and uses a mouse, and can run on almost any computer, quickly and efficiently with much less use of computer resources, which is why that old computer that got so slow you could not use any more will make a perfect host to the Linux software that will be quick and efficient. Also, you do not need to be any more savvy with computers than you were with the first MS DOS, which had no GUIs and is not even close to the power in the Unix operating system. Lose MS and move to Linux.
