Incredible
This is one of the best and informational books about incest I have ever read. The journey and the emotions are so real that you feel it. It gives great insight to the feelings that incest survivors go through.

Good
This was realistic and of course sad and upsetting but I am glad the author decided to share her story because we all need to educate ourselves about this.

More Than Expected
The relating of life experiences that tore away the security and joy of family life that any child deserves was expected and poignant. But the real strength of the book was Ms. Brady's explanation of how these external experiences gradually drove her to make a conscious and personal choice to adopt a lesbian lifestyle. The powerful and life-changing influence of a selfish and thoughtless parent tore away her faith and trust in an entire gender.

Good book
The condition of this book was good. I'd read this book when I was in junior high & had to read it again. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase.

Difficult to read but important to enhance one’s knowledge of the legacy of the pain of incest
I think it’s important that the reader understand that the abuse survivor was born in 1944. The reason that I want to point out her birth date is so that younger readers will realize that the author lived during a period when incest was not discussed. The e-book describes how the incest occurred, the author's thoughts and feelings and how it affected her later in life. Before reading this author’s story, I read the e-book Sex Crimes: Then and Now: My Years on the Front Lines Prosecuting Rapists and Confronting Their Collaborators. That e-book was important because it helped me understand that rape victims have feelings and emotions that can be contrary to what non-rape victims believe they should be. The author of this story suffered immensely and made many poor decisions after finally getting away from her father. This story drove a permanent wedge between the author and her sister. Ultimately, the author survives and prevails, but one can feel the pain through the author’s writing. To be perfectly honest I do not believe that everyone can read the story without partially blaming the victim. The problem is the victim did nothing wrong, and one must go into this story with that understanding.

Humanity
I started this book for selfish reasons, I wanted to educate my Neurodivergent self to help me understand and empathize with my spouse. Having finished this story, I am horrified at my behavior and flimsy justification for not allowing them to confide in me their worst nightmares and essentially making them deal with it alone. I am more determined than ever before to be the pillar of support I always should have been. I realize now that I didn't think I could help and hoped it would just disappear and everything would be fine... What a selfish and ignorant view.Thank you so much for writing your story.
