I was expecting it to be nice, thanks to Amazon reviews
Wow, this beats every pocket fishing rod I have ever seen in the big box stores! I was expecting it to be nice, thanks to Amazon reviews, but I guess you just never know until YOU actually see it. Wow....why would anyone want to clog up their garages with the big rods when they make these? Not sure if you're like me, but when my family of 5 goes camping or to the beach, I usually make the boys leave rods at home because there is absolutely no space left in the car. These rods extend out to just as nice and sturdy of a rod. Not to mention, I know of at least 3 times either me or one of my kids have slammed the door and snapped their regular rods in half! Oh, and how many times can I tell you that I have been driving and feel a lure caught in my hair because one of the kids didn't hook it back. All of these reasons....plus more I'm sure....are enough reasons to chuck all the other rods and go with these! Ok, my husband would kill me if I did that, but you literally could get rid of your regular rods! Just ordered another.

Company resolved
Update:The company contacted me after my response and has resolved the matter. They are sending a new rod. The second rod that I purchased has not had any issues and is used consistently by a 7 year old. The company also had some good advice on making sure when you open the rod that you do it one section at a time fully and the same when closing. My family has a total of four of these rods and we love them as they fit well into our packs when we have to do some hiking, they have a nice plastic cover to protect the rod which keeps it secure in our packs and even in the house. We are hopeful that they will continue to be our go to poles especially for our kids. This rod is a great length for me as well since I am quite short and not the most graceful when standing on a rock in a creek. The company has been great to work with to resolve our one malfunctioning pole and that says a lot. Happy fishing!!We bought 2 of these poles. We went fishing 2nd time out and had a great amount of difficulty to get the pole to collapse again. Then while out in the creek my line got stuck. I popped my pole gently to get it to release off the branch and the pole snapped.

Dont expect too much....
Bought this to hide in my tackle bag and use with a sabiki at the pier since my pier has a 3 rod limit. I dont like wasting one of my 3 just for catching bait and I hate having to change tackle constantly. Technically this gives me a 4th rod. I dont cast with it. I just use it to drop the line in the water straight down and lightly jig up and down. Within 5 minutes the tip fell off. I put it back on and crimped it with my pliers so I could use it the rest of the day. It basically served its purpose and I've since glued the top back on. The other annoying thing is the sections can spin around so lining the guides up if I actually wanted to cast is nearly impossible. I do love the compact size and it seemed pretty strong though I never reeled anything very large in with it.

Good baitcasting setup if you want to save some space.
These telescoping rods are great for saving space. I have a similar one that I set up with a 1000 series Penn spinning reel. I keep it in in my car along with a small tackle bag. I find myself doing a lot more fishing when I don't have to plan and prep for the trip. Having a rod in the car all the time makes it easy to run out for a quick relaxing fishing trip on my lunch break at the office, or when I see a promising spot just driving by.I bought this rod in the 2.4M length for a baitcasting reel. The reel seated well in it the foam on the handle and red ring actually matched the reel & grips I was planning to use, so it actually looks like a pretty well matched set! Now I have a second rod for my go-to car fishing gear and I still have plenty of space in the back of the SUV for the dog, groceries, etc...

Nice idea.. poorly constructed
So this thing is cute and can fit into small spaces & extend out when needed.I took it on ONE fishing trip. After the fifth cast, I got a nice bite and SNAP!My poles breaks in half.(Actually, I got hooked on a strong rock or seaweed... Wow! What a big “rock fish” I will get to tell everyone about!)Very cute, impractical and piece of garbage.Maybe good for make believe fishing for your child.Man that was a big rock fish! So big, it broke my pole..

Good product for the price
These are fantastic little fishing poles for a collapsible, on the go fishing life. I kept one in my fishing bag and one in the glove compartment of my car. The only reason why they didn’t get 5. Stars is because the first tip broke upon landing the first fish, I think it was just too weak, But I just sanded it down and now it’s still working fine! The quality is nice albumin and feels very very light weight.

Much, much nicer than I was expecting.
Much, much nicer than I was expecting. I've owned telescoping poles before, but this one is the best, and the price is so great. It is worth having just to keep in the truck. The other day I need to take a mental break from work so I grabbed it out of the truck and boom I was fishing at the lake in city park. Are there better fishing poles in the world, yes, but at this price, there is no pole that I have found that I would rather own.

Good enough
Seems well built for the price. Only complaint is the line guides are very small. Actually looks more like a fly rode. I tired a regular spinning reel on it. It worked but the narrow guides seem to limit the range of casting. Placed my saltwater fly reel on it and it did ok. Not as good as a real fly rode but good enough for my use. Plan to use mainly for trips where I can pack in a suitcase. Worth the purchase as long as the narrow line guides are ok with you.
