I purchased this unit as a solution to sealing mylar bags, which it does beautifully, as opposed to my Foodsaver. In response to the direction book, the previous customer is right...instructions are crappy! However, the sealer works beautifully. Here's the trick to it...Extend the snorkle, place bag over the snorkle and the small plastic white piece above snorkle (this allows a chamber of air to be created) lock lid, set the adjustable vacuum pressure for type of bag, turn on the machine and depress the bar when desired vacuuming has been reached. A beep will sound when done. This machine seals just about any type of bag.

I really really liked this vacuum sealer. The majority of the time it vacuum seals my freeze dried food and then seals it. Sometimes it doesn't suck all the air out, but I am pretty sure it is my error. This is a great cheap way to preserve your food.

Bought this specifically to work with mylar bags. The good ..it does work somewhat with mylar. The bad,,it DOESN'T WORK PERIOD. When you try to vaccuum out the air it starts fine, but just will not clear out all the air (I can get more air out by hand with a ziploc bag). I have a cheap box store unit that works great. (but not on mylar ) i would not recommend this unit for any use . Does not even work with regular sealer bags VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED

replaced an older one from over 10 years ago. It still works, but was having some issues. Glad to find they still made them.Will be more careful with this one on breaking the hold downs.

This will heat seal Mylar but it does not work well to vacuum seal bags.

My first review was rejected. The item was DOA. The unit failed to pull a vacuum. The instruction manual did not correlate with the item. The item appeared to be used, i.e. scratches, dings etc.
