math and other supporting thoughts best to look elsewhere
Its a decent Book. Its more of a listing of designs that the author tested and has drawings given. It does not however go into any real theory about spindle designs. He only covers two basic designs, 8 spindles that use standard ball bearings and one that uses tapered roller bearings for a total of 9 designs. So if your absolutely clueless about spindles and how to make one this is the book for you by going directly into the meat of making one. If your looking for more design insight, math and other supporting thoughts best to look elsewhere.

Well worth the investment and time to read this book
The is an excellent presentation of the machining of not only spindles but the housings, bearing selection, machining internal morse tapers, nuts, pulleys, spindle mounts, and bearing retainers. The book is well written, well illustrated, and easily understood. Numerous spindle examples and dimensions are provided along with step by step procedures and tips. I also found bonus material on thread cutting, making machinist buttons, lathe alignment and the setup for making spindles and collets to hold various tooling very valuable. If you have a spindle to design, want to build a tool post grinder, or a special application or just want to learn more about using a lathe, this is the book to get. It is well worth the price.

solid and practical
This book discusses some of the factors of importance in designing and building spindles, and gives a series of designs at various levels of size and complexity. I am not sure that there is anything really new here, but it is very handy to see the information in one place and with practical examples.

I received my book and am completely satisfied with it
After there was an issue with my original shipment, Wordery stepped up and made it right. I received my book and am completely satisfied with it.

Good Buy!
This is an excellent book for someone new to spindle design and fabrication thereof. This is a great starting place and the low price seals the value. The only slight is the book is written in "British speak", generating an occassional slowdown in comprehension for at least this colonist.

Hits the Target
Accomplishes its stated objectives: Aimed toward semi-novice home shop machinists. The spindle designs are all aimed at a small Myford lathe. However, they could be scaled up as needed.

An interesting read for the somewhat experienced engineer.
I bought this book out of a general interest in all things "engineering". Ideal if you are a Myford or similar small lathe user, but not essential unless you actually want to make a spindle. In this respect it appears to be comprehensive guide with a number of different spindle designs. The author appears to suggest that it suitable for the beginner with some experience, although I would add "...one with a comprehensive workshop and access to other machines / engineers to borrow tools, etc".Nevertheless, an interesting read.

Just the job!
If you are an engineer you've probably come across most of the spindles in this book, but when designing a project you can't always think about everything, and it's a great help to look through this book to remind yourself of the different ways you could do something. Interesting for anyone with a mechanical mind.

A worthwhile addition to my collection.
I've looked through it but not read it, so this isn't a full review. However, I've read some of Mr Sandhu's magazine articles, and they left me very impressed (and helpfully informed). The publisher is sadly prone to muddy photographic images in their various publications, and this book has a few. But many images are drawings and they and the text are fine, so for me this is a good purchase.
