Bought for an over-geared road bike.
I bought this to replace the cassette on a 2012 Carrera TDF road bike, as the bike is notorious for being over-geared (crazy considering its aimed at beginners) this made it really hard to get up hills. This 32t gear cassette now makes it a fair bit easier on the legs, but to make a bigger difference I'd have to change the front chain rings, and that would start getting expensive, and as I bought the bike 2nd hand I don't want to start throwing lots of money at it (I will upgrade to a better bike eventually).Luckily, I didn't have to change the de-railer or the chain and so far it's changing smoothly. It could just be me, but I do feel that their seems to be a large jump between the 2nd gear up to the 1st (32t) but at least it gets me up the hill. It's a worthwhile upgrade for the money.I didn't bother buying special tools to remove the old one, I just used some needle nose pliers to loosen the cover while holding the cassette with a thick leather clove. (took a bit of muscle but got there in the end with no damage to me or the old cassette).

Does the job perfectly
I bought this to replace the original cassette on my 2011 Carrera Vengeance, because it had worn down with my old chain, causing the new chain to skip. The new cassette immediately solved the problem. I've done roughly 100 miles on it so far, and gear shifting is very smooth. It can take a bit of effort to remove the old cassette. You'll almost certainly need a Freewheel lock-ring tool, and a spanner or ratchet to drive it with. For a beginner, it's annoyingly difficult to work out which of the very similar-looking tools you need, but I did OK withhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0028N57UU/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1(equivalent to a Park Tools FR-5G)You might also need a chain whip, though I got the job done with a piece of old chain and a claw hammer.Fitting the new one is thankfully a lot easier.

Good but bring back hardened steel!
Once upon a time 30 years ago bike chains and cassette’s lasted the life of the bike. These days chains are consumables as they stretch and snap. While they’re stretched they then silently damage the Cassette. Something I have found out to my cost twice in 2 years. (symptoms are the new chain skips over teeth in the old cassette). I guess it’s due to the soft light weight materials used but sometimes I long for hardened steel to make a comeback……..This appears good quality as well as the SRAM chains.

it also allows the use of a good strong chain
Fitted this onto my 30 year old Peugeot Road Bike along with a new Rear Derailleur and Wheels to shift it into the 21st Century. The 32 Toothed Gear makes Hill Climbing much easier and faster. The 11 Toothed Gear allows me to push downhill to 40 mph. Sprints have also improved. I record all my training on a well known Phone App, I've seen these improvements, it's not just a gut feeling. The Eight Gear Range is plenty for me and allows me to use the original friction Gear Shifter, it also allows the use of a good strong chain. This Cassette is light in weight , very good value for money at the moment and it's chromed finish looks good on the Bike. I've ridden about 200 miles on it since purchased. I can't fault it.

Works as expected.
Lasted for 2,500 miles (1 year) commmute mixed on/off road riding. (NB I never clean chainset, but do add lubrication. I assume it would last longer with proper maintenace). Used with SRAM chain.

How low can I go
Very happy with this cassette, have gone from 13-26 to 11-28 to 11-30. Makes things a lot easier and very easy to fit, but definitely change and remeasure the chain at the same time! Have not had to change my rd2300 rear derailleur or mess with screws. It is worth noting the ratios are different between 11-28 and 11-30.

Perfect replacement
Replacing a 3yr old worn out cassette on my Boardman Road Sport bike from Halfords. Identical to the one I replaced. Well manufactured and relatively easy to install providing you have the correct tools.
