It did rest on the saucepan without falling off, but did not have much of a lip over the top so easily gets partially knocked off the the top of the saucepan. The description says that box contains a single saucepan lid, there was a saucepan lid but no box to contain it. No doubt part of the cost cutting measures to keep the price down. One has to remove the knob to take off the label and then screw the knob back on. The problem is you have to be very careful to properly align the knob when screwing it back together. This no doubt was the cause of some of the other negative reviews concerning the knob if it had not been properly aligned when screwing it back on.
