Is this durable enough for extended entomological use? I'd really like a portable net for traveling!

Yes, the weak point is where the net circle attaches to the pole, if you hit it wrong, that part snaps - and takes a lot of duct tape to fix. Otherwise I love mine

would the net be durable enough to catch baby chiks from a big cage?

Net was given as a gift, so no personal experience with it. As a net, it was pretty "durable" -- it probably could catch a couple of chicks. As a full-time assignment, probably wouldn't last too long.

Can anyone tell me the size of the net holes on these? Are any smaller than others? Small insects come through the holes on my current net.
