Immunology: A Short Course

Immunology is a vast and ever-growing subject. As our understanding of disease advances, it is not surprising to see immunology underpinning many diseases that were not considered until recently to have an immune component. Just look at the success of immune-oncology, for example.The trend seems to be for textbooks to follow that pattern: "vast and ever-growing". Honestly, they can be overwhelming. So this book is a breath of fresh air. It's still almost 400 pages, but broken into 20 chapters, each of which can be read in about an hour. Each one ends with a summary and a set of review questions (with answers on the following page). That makes it less than half the size of Janeway, another popular immunology text. Personally, for whatever reason, I find this one a lot easier to read. Once I'm through this, I'll probably move onto Janeway for extra detail, but starting with Janeway first it just too much detail to absorb at once.Highly recommend for those looking to get an intro to immunology.

This is the required text for a 400 level immunology course I'm taking. Many of the text books for the upper level courses I have taken have been difficult to understand. This book does an excellent job of explaining complicated concepts in an easy to understand manner. I wish many of the other textbooks I have were this easy to comprehend. This is one of the only textbooks where I can understand the concepts pretty well just from reading the book.My only complaint is I wish it was a more durable paperback. I'm using it a lot, so its getting a bit beat up.

Great study on the workings of the immune system. Solidifies that we are created from a superior being - the Almighty God. Used for my PhD program

Nothing special about this book. Often feels like a list of facts, and the figures are only decent quality. The chapter summaries are helpful. The end-of-chapter questions are great, but limited (8-9 questions per chapter).

Great book. Worthy to read and use for study. Not complicated when explaining difficult terms. Recommended for university reading and review.

Somewhat confusing chapters seem disorganized, however, you will learn Immunology.
