One of the best personnal development book I ever bought (and read)
As a distance learning student of Edinburgh Business School, [...], I decided to take the 'Negotiation' course from Professor Gavin Kennedy as one of my electives. Then I read his book here. It is of the same high quality, and really complements the course, with a high hands-on approach. The book is just great. A lot of real-life scenarios that you wish you'd read the book a long time ago. You do not need to go the hassle of the author's course, even though I would recommend it as well.I hope you will feel as empowered as I feel now.Note: this review is my own decision, without any influence or constraint from third party.

One of the best negotiating books written: highly recommend.
This book is a must-have for serious negotiators. I count it among the top five negotiation books in my library. I make deals for a living and Kennedy's work is helpful and wise. I bought this for Kindle and then bought the paperback: it's that good.

See What You Didn't See So You Can Clearly See In The Future
This book is very good because it allows you to see not only negotiation tactics but also many examples of pitfalls, many of which are applicable to any business. When you read this it explains a good deal about behavior that you likely seen at some time in your career but weren't sure exactly if it was happen chance or a strategic tactic, i.e. it pulls back the veil.

Excellent book for sales and purchase professionals
Many books about sales teach you how to prepare for negotiations, meeting with the customer, how to organize your agenda and so on. This book is concentrated specially on the negotiations process. With a lot of practical examples it will be very useful whether you work in B2C or in B2B area.

Read This Book!
Run, don't walk, to the bookstore to get this book.On every level in life, there are lessons you can apply from this book. Why do we let others take our power? Why do we think of negotiating as a competitive sport or a winner take all situation? How can we do better in big and little negotiating situations? This book will give you lots of practical help.At the beginning of each chapter there is a self-assessment quiz. Do yourself a favour and respond without thinking. Then read the chapter to gain an understanding of how you can improve your approach. This was a real eye-opener for me. At the end of the chapter, Gavin Kennedy details how he would answer the quiz. Great stuff.Admittedly, the writing could have been edited better. How's this for a sentence - "I'm not making a plea for moderation in the habit of complaining - far from it: unless King Canute's demonstration of the weaker powers of authority in commanding was in vain, we have no call, and no hope, of reversing the tide of human nature." And there's more where that came from. However, that is a small quibble. The lessons are clear and they are based on lots of real life experience (mistakes as well as successes). If you are at all interested in dealing with other people, you will find lots to think about. Highly recommended.

Best book I've read on the subject
This is about the 20th book I've read on this subject, and this version is the 4th edition - I read the third edition and this is a big improvement. There is alot to read here - long-winded stories of the author's own adventures in negotiating around the world. But the reason this book stands out for me is because the stories are so convincing - compelling you to alter your behaviour and stand your ground with prices, and only concede if offered in return.I recently bought, and am currently selling, some property. This book was vital - on its advice I turned down the first offer and it worked. Obvious really, but if like me you need persuading and convincing how and why to toughen up a bit when negotiating, and to do it without appearing rude - then this is a very useful book.
