Loctite 88442 Red 272 High Temperature/Strength Thread Locker, 50 mL Bottle

This was used in manufacturing a set of custom drawer pulls. I needed a thread locker that would be able to withstand 400 degrees (F) so that the finished pieces could be powder coated. I wasn't able to find anything at my local hardware store, but Amazon had it available for next day delivery. The bottle is larger than what is normally available locally and has an excellent design to keep the product from drying up in the nozzle. It made application easy to control even with small parts like 10mm long m5 bolts. I would buy this over the tubes just for the superior bottle design and ease of use.

Used this Loctite 272 red threadlocker during an engine rebuild and it did exactly what I wanted: it kept critical fasteners from backing out while dealing with heat, vibration, and repeated torque checks. Once it cures, it is seriously solid. No surprise loosening, no mess, and a little goes a long way. The 50 mL bottle is a nice size if you are doing a full rebuild or multiple projects, and the liquid applies cleanly without globbing everywhere. I had best results by cleaning the threads first, applying a small amount, and giving it proper cure time. One thing to know up front: this is high strength. If you plan to remove the fastener later, expect to need heat and the right tools. For permanent or long term assembly on an engine, that is a plus. Would buy again for any rebuild or high heat application.

I used this to attach headers, exhaust manifolds, any place I do not want engine vibration to back out any nuts. It works for me.

Works as intended. Stronger than blue. Used this on my bed frame bolts about two weeks, so far so good. Only time will tell.

I love Loctite and have been using their products for many years. This on came frozen from the UPS truck. I called Loctite and was told they have tested this product in much colder conditions. But to be safe, he said, I should use it within 30 days after opening. I guess I won't order any more until summer.

Seems to be genuine Loctite. On the bottle is states "For sale in India only". I'm in the US, so have no idea what that is all about.

Rivet nuts are great, right up until the hole is slightly too big and the whole thing spins uselessly like a tiny metal philosophy student. You can redrink the hole, you can try a bigger rivet nut, or you can do what any sensible person does at that point and reach for chemistry. Loctite 272 is the threadlocker you call when the situation has escalated beyond mechanical solutions and into the territory of “I will simply refuse to accept this outcome.” A small amount applied, left to cure, and those rivet nuts went from embarrassingly wobbly to absolutely immovable. They are now more committed to their position than I have been to anything in my adult life. High strength means high strength. This is not a product that hedges. It cures hard, holds fast, and will outlast the vehicle, the project, and quite possibly my interest in either. If your rivet nuts are spinning freely and your dignity is spinning with them, this is the bottle you want. Problem solved. I am, once again, a genius.
