The 1960s drug culture began in 1948 looking for "truth serum"?
I picked up the book for the chapter on the Reno, Nevada, Judas Priest (product liability) trial, coming from viewing a PBS documentary, Dream Deceivers . I was looking for additional information on the lawyer at that trial, and info about Reno's own Washoe Valley one-man expert on Ritz Crackers' subliminal advertising brainwashing, Wilson Bryan Key, who was an expert witness Subliminal Seduction for that trial (low taste music as brainwashing). While perusing the chapter about that anti-rock alt-right product liability trial (to establish demonic brainwashing via the 1981 "backward masking" hoax as factual, then sue children's music off the shelf), I came across the chapter about the CIA and universities' trials with 1940s LSD, wacky Mexican 'shrooms, and other mind-altering substances (desert plants) being tested as "truth drugs" in the set up for the Cold War. In a nutshell: the grad students self-medicated for fun and went tripping, told their friends, and made it popular. Your Cold War taxes at work in the universities' psychology departments.

Full, yet empty.
There are several great reviews on here that detail the minutiae of this book, but I believe this book is, indeed, excellent as a "one book" primer. This book covers so much ground in under 330 pages that subjects cannot be given the proper treatment they deserve. I really enjoyed the read as it mostly reads like fiction. Also, I really loved the book recommendations in the back of the book as it is quite extensive!Buy this book if you're looking for a general overview or as an advanced primer.

I recommend this book and the other ones
Mind control has been a forever search. That the tools for this nefarious activity exist cannot be doubted. In the early 60s Jose Manuel Delgado published his famous book, The Physical Control of the Mind. An article in the NYT dealt with his experiments. The search for the Manchurian Candidate, John D. Marks et al. attest to the fact that mind control has already been achieved. The world of the mind has changed since the 60s. This topic is too important to be ignored. I recommend this book and the other ones. I liked the quick service and fast delivery by this store. Thanks.

Streatfeild is delusional. Very mainstream and misinformed.
Quite a few subjects on mind control are brought up in the book and on each one the author repeatedly debunks the "myth" of brainwashing. He believes that soldiers who confessed to war crimes in the korean war did not believe what they were confessing to and that none of them actually converted to communism. He believes that hundreds of children at McMartin Preschool lied about abuse even though some kids were diagnosed with blunt force trauma to genitals and std's. There was also a tunnel found under the school which I'm sure the author would respond to by saying that those people who unconvered the tunnels weren't legitimate. Over and over Streatfeild takes the view that any Hannity/Oreilly lying shill would take on these contraversial events, that is, that there is no evidence of conspiracy. If I remember correctly he also portrays False Memory Syndrome as a respectable, legitimate organization and makes a straw argument against the existence of ritual satanic abuse by using a case that was clearly not RSA and omitting any real ones. There are plenty of good books on hidden history, this is not one of them. Anyone in the know would be aggravated reading disinfo like this.

There are a number of cult-like groups that have perfected the science of detructive influence on the young, trusting and unsuspecting. This research describes the background HISTORY of the development of this field better than any other work I have been exposed to.

Good for the older historical info on drug experimentation......
Very good at covering the older information on drug, hypnosis, and group mind control.....Lack explaining in the newer more subtle methods for conditioning individuals (NLP) and the combined uses with the new technologies used for mind control.... Great Book
Brainwash gets into the gritty details of Behavioral Modification. Mind control isn't all about hocus pocus, it's about the systematic procedures to get human beings to alter their behavior by using coercive techniques.

A very interesting and vast topic.
Truth drugs, trauma and hypnosis - I'd never heard of truth drugs before!!Could it really be possible that the mind of a human being can be tampered with to the point that the person literally loses their mind. Tamprered with to the point that they can be somewhat programmed - e.g. programmed to believe they have committed crimes that they didn’t commit and request to be executed as punishment.Could drugs, or induced hypnosis be responsible for this?Or maybe operant conditioning - using unpleasant or tourturus and severely traumatic experiences to condition the mind to react to things in a certain way. Fear and trauma in animal experiments saw their learned behaviours and personalities do a complete u turn. In humans the same effects have been documented - even to the point where people have changed their religious beliefs. Psychologists refer to this type of thing as behaviourism, and it has been argued to be a means of controlling/programming and predicting human behaviour, moulding a human personality.Pavlov did lots of reared experiments/research ( a bit of A Level Psychology is coming back to me now lol, and Bandura was another theorist who did similar experiments around operant conditioning). If someone is brainwashed doesn't that make them a slave to the brainwasher, controlled and programmed, their freedom and liberty stolen.....Streatfeild also goes on to explore the use of brainwashing in warfare.Drugs that can alter your consciousness to a state between sleep man awake - a point at which the mind is less inhibited and reveals more truths and secrets and personal info that the sharp conscious mind ever would - and sticking a hypodermic needle in someone’s vein and increasing their dose as and when they seem to be shaping out of it during an ‘interrogation’ a general anaesthetic (barbiturate nembutal) research by Horsley (1931) showed women in labour under the influence of this drug started to reveal al sorts of things - inhibitions were removed in a matter of seconds.A truth drug had been discovered. This new way of getting into an unconscious mind was termed nacroanalysis. perfect for any shadowy figures wanting to interrogate someone they just can’t seem to break!Chemical brainwashing, which could also be done via/put in food.Subliminal messages, electric shock therapy, interrogation methods and torture.....intrigued? Then read on.

Lies
This book started off well with the first 2 chapters which seem to be showing some of the horror of this topic. It turned out to be a counter-intelligence (hope that word is used properly) of the sheer torture that is the subject of the book - brainwashing.A complete "you are all mad sure I'm working for them too" denial of atrocities about which the author seems to have knowledge which he refuses to share.

Well written, compulsive reading.
A great book detailing this history of brainwashing from various means including military experiments with hypnosis and LSD, religious cults, hidden messages in heavy metal albums, right up to modern interrogation techniques. No pie-in-the-sky conspiracy theories here, this book is based on factual accounts and is excellently researched. It's written in an accessible, easy-to-read style and is what used to be deemed a "page turner". If you have an interest in this subject, you won't be disappointed.

great story
whether this is all true or not.....im starting to believe this HAS and IS going on....in all truth it makes me angry that these "elite devil worshippers " think we are below them, and they do as they want, are above the law......us the real people need to do something about these cretins....this is a scary read, but sadly i feel it isnt fiction, its happening

Better than expected
The author made a very impressive research and interviewed a massive quantity of people.Although sometimes the book seems to stray a bit from the main topic, it always stays very compelling. To be honest, I was skeptical but this book won me over.
