An American Werewolf in Paris

Much Better Than I Thought
First of all, the movie is on a single disc Blu-ray. No standard DVD. So I wasn't expecting the An American Werewolf in Paris Blu-ray(the title is in Spanish on the insert) to be much better than the same movie on DVD(American version), which I also have, but I figured the Blu-ray version would be at least a little better on the picture quality. I was more than surprised at the Blu-ray PQ .......... waaaay much, much better than the DVD. I'm not a videophile so I won't go into the specifics. But in a back to back comparison, it's obvious that the Blu-ray beats the DVD hands down on PQ.The audio quality is very good, as it is on the DVD. Although it isn't shown in the description on Amazon, there are three audio choices in the main menu: Spanish 2.0, English 5.1(it's DTS-HD, but not shown as such in the main menu) and English 2.0. I selected the English 5.1(DTS-HD), to listen through a home theater system. Subtitle selections are Spanish(Castellano), English(Ingles), Portuguese and Remove(Quitar). The disc might not play back in older Blu-ray players. I couldn't get it to play in an old Sony BD-S470 Blu-ray player, and it barely played back in a 2011 Oppo BDP-103. No problem playing it back in an Oppo UDP-203 though. If it hadn't been for the newer Oppo, I would have thought the disc was defective. After checking, I found it also plays in a Toshiba BDX1300KU Blu-Ray/DVD player and an LG UP970 UHD player without any problems. If that helps. The price is a bit high, but until the movie is available in Blu-ray on an American label, this one more than fits the bill as an improvement over the DVD.

If you were a teenager in the 90's you get it!
I know as a remake to the classic this one falls short. But as one of the first computer generated monsters this one is amazing. I can remember coming home from the theater trying to explain to my family how big and fast this thing was. Love the soundtrack, love the comedy (at the time it was pretty orginal), love the beasts!! Great fun werewolf movie!

Worst. Sequel. Ever!
As a fan of the first film, I had high hopes for this one, even though, my first viewing of it happened 21 years after its release. With that being said, this film lost the loving feeling of its predecessor. What had been accomplished by skilled makeup and special effects artists in the first film was sorely not put into play in its sequel. The CGI was beyond ridiculous. Heck! The film, Mary Poppins, was more convincing with its cartoon effects than this film was with its newfangled technology. Ugh. Someone please give me a memory eraser, so I can delete this drivel from my brain parts! PLEASE!How people managed to rate this film above a 2 is a decision I will never understand.Just. Sad.

Nostalgic to those who saw this as a teenager in the 90's
At first I couldn't believe this movie was only at 3 starts until I realized this was a remake. I know exactly how those people feel when I take into account some of the remakes of movies I used to know and love. Bottom line if you've never seen the first adaptation of this movie, or even more importantly were born in the late 70's / early 80's or after; you will probably get a big kick out of this film. Lots of suspense, lots of comedy with a touch of boy meets girl coming of age romance. This flick brings back good memories for me.

"Bubble Gum" Horror, But OK
London was better than most werewolf movies and this is not really a sequel but same thing different city. The best thing about it were the werewolves which were very good, fast, ugly, mean and brutal. Not as good as the London version mainly due to better talent. If you are a werewolf "purist" you will not like it at all, but if you liked "twilight" or some of those movies directed at those kids that we old-timers used to call "teenyboppers" you will love it.

Tom Everett Scott ruins it
I'm a sucker for werewolf movies and An American Werewolf in London is a classic. This was a cheap knockoff that had potential but was ruined by the just monumentally bad performance from Tom Everett Scott. Seriously one of the worst pieces of "acting" I've ever seen. There is a reason he never had another leading role in his career. It tries to be funny and scary and romantic and fails at all 3. Julie Delphy is great as always, so 1 star just for her, 1 star for the overall concept and a half star each for young Julie Bowen being funny and the scene with the dead dog.

Scary Good Fun!
Well-made, well-acted fright comedy created when the world was a different place. Can we even film in Paris, these days? Even though it was made in the 90's, it doesn't seemtoo dated. I enjoyed this again for the fourth time!

WHY?!?!?!?! For the love of god?!?!?!
This is terrible! I can't even finish it! Just terrible! How do you even try to make this when the original is such a classic? Did I already say TERRIBLE!
