An Emotional, Heart-Gripping Story About Love, Loss, and Forgiveness
Regretting You is one of those novels that completely takes over your emotions and leaves you thinking about the characters long after youโve finished. Colleen Hoover delivers a story that blends family drama, romance, and grief in a way that feels raw, authentic, and deeply moving. The book follows Morgan, a mother who has always played it safe, and her teenage daughter Clara, who couldnโt be more different. After a sudden tragedy, secrets start unraveling that put their relationship to the test. Hoover does a phenomenal job capturing the complicated dynamics between mothers and daughtersโthe miscommunication, the unspoken love, and the clash of perspectives between generations. What I loved most was how real the characters felt. Morganโs struggle to find herself again while still being strong for her daughter is heartbreaking and inspiring, while Claraโs voice captures the confusion and anger of a teenager navigating first love and devastating loss. The dual POV makes the story even richer, showing how two people can live through the same pain but process it so differently. As always, Colleen Hooverโs writing is beautifully simple yet gut-wrenching. She balances the heavy moments with light, heart-warming scenes and sprinkles in just enough romance to give the story hope. This isnโt just a romanceโitโs a story about family, healing, and the courage to move forward when everything feels broken. If you enjoy emotional reads that make you cry and smile in the same chapter, Regretting You is a must-read.

No regrets
When my favorite authors have new books that come out, I try my best to go in as blind as I can. No reading the blurb. Skipping over reviews online and teasers in book groups. It's hard, but I want to experience the book without ANY preconceived notions and be surprised on my own. Regretting You was a beautiful surprise from an author that can write absolutely anything (but what is up with her use of letters in so many books?? lol). Regretting You is told in dual POV from a mother (Morgan) and daughter (Clara). They've experienced something that was life altering and the experience changed them and their whole life forever. "Right after something tragic happens, you feel like you've fallen off a cliff. But after the tragedy starts to sink in, you realize you didn't fall off a cliff. You're on an eternal roller coaster that just reached the bottom. Now it's gonna be up and down and upside down for a long , long time. Maybe even forever." And that's what this story was for me. It unfolded and we got to see how 2 characters handled the situation. Neither one was perfect. A mother trying to shield her daughter and protect her, while at the same time trying to forge and fix the relationship between them that had floundered in recent years. Morgan gave up absolutely everything for Clara and, being a teen, she never saw it. Morgan was selfless and that was her biggest flaw. She did for others at the detriment to herself. And then there's Clara. She is a teenager and that's almost the only thing we need to say to understand her actions. She is trying to navigate a new life and holds so much hatred toward her mother that just wants a relationship with her. But she also has a boy around her that intrigues her (Miller, FTW). Her actions are all over the place. These three characters and their roller coaster of emotions had me feeling for them all throughout the book. I hate a review that gives me a synopsis of a book. So I will leave you with this... Regretting You gives you two female characters that are trying to figure out their places in life and their places with each other. It's not easy to read everything and you will want to smack Clara a few times. But like I said, she's a teenager that's been dealt a blow. And even Morgan is frustrating. Especially in the flashbacks where maybe she got it wrong. Miller is utter perfection. Seriously. His actions and the way he handled all his situations was very commendable. Just remember that they are teens, and not everything is perfect. And then there is Gramps. I love an old character that comes in funny or with some major sage advice. He was really a favorite of mine. Then we have Jonah, Chris and Jenny. They are all major players in this story, but this is Morgan and Clara's journey and that's where the focus lies. Don't expect answers from them. ;) Regretting You was a journey for two characters and while I wanted information from other characters, it wasn't their story. The way the characters interacted, the story flowed from past to present and from character to character was done so well. The plot moved at a pace that worked for the story being told. Of course I wanted more answers, but I was understanding of this mother/ daughter relationship that included their own personal relationships and how they navigated them. Colleen Hoover wrote a book that a mother could share with their high school daughter and hopefully bring them closer. While it's not my favorite CoHo book, it is still a book that I will love to share with others. It's beautiful and well told. The message about relationships and attraction really hit home. "Attraction isn't something that only happens once, with one person. It's part of what drives humans. Our attraction to each other, to art, to food, to entertainment. Attraction is fun. So when you decide to commit to someone, you aren't saying, 'I promise I'll never be attracted to anyone else.' You're saying, 'I promise to commit to you, despite my potential future attraction to other people.'...Relationships are hard for that very reason." Colleen has a way with words and is gifting us with another book that details the flaws in humans and how we can react to them and process them. Be prepared to feel and learn all at once. Loving and hating the characters in this story will be a journey in itself. 4.5 stars

Perfect Ending, Beautiful Journey
I bought the Kindle version of Regretting You because I love reading books before watching the movie. After just a few chapters, I fell in love with the characters. They felt so real and somewhat relatable. I did look up the trailer at one point and felt a little confused about the plot, but once I kept reading, everything came together beautifully. I laughed, I cried, and so many of the memories growing up hit close to home. When I realized it was already February and the movie had actually come out LAST October, I couldnโt finish the book fast enough! The ending was perfect. I only hope the movie does the story justice โ Iโve been talking about it nonstop with my daughter, and we canโt wait to watch it together.

โI donโt understand how my body can be full of everything bodies are full ofโbones and muscles and blood and organsโyet my chest sometimes feels vacant, as if someone could scream into my mouth and it would echo inside of me.โ - Regretting You. SYNOPSIS: โ Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike. Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young. Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesnโt want to follow in her motherโs footsteps. Her predictable mother doesnโt have a spontaneous bone in her body. With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris- Morganโs husband, Claraโs father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.โ - Regretting You. REVIEW: Another Colleen Hoover read and another five stars from me! This book was full of hard truths, hurts, and comforts. While the plot is fairly laid out in the synopsis, I feel like the book went much deeper than that. It is such a great commentary on relationships in general, but especially relationships between mothers and daughters and couples. Being a daughter myself, I had some flashbacks to my teenage years while reading this book, and the relationship with my mother around that time. It also made me think of the future, and when I am (eventually) a mother myself and the type of relationship I may have with my future daughter. I found it to be emotional but also so raw and real. This book was heartbreaking and shocking in some moments, and also had an amazing plot. Similar to the other Colleen Hoover books that I have read, I fell in love with the characters. I found them all to be very different and independent from one another, each with their own voice. I also appreciated how none of the characters were perfect. They all had their shortcomings and โbadโ sides but some of the characters also showed immense growth throughout the book. Some characters were able to admit their mistakes and shortcomings and work to move past it. I appreciate the work of the characters too- they didnโt just magically change for the better without going through the fire. Like I mentioned above, it all was so realistic, touching, and heartbreaking. I generally tend to love books that explore complicated family dynamics and relationships in general, so this was perfect for me. This book I am going to recommend to everyone. It is such an easy read, and I think that most people will get something worthwhile out of it. While the book did deal with some heartbreaking topics, I found a lot of it to also be very comforting, which is a welcomed break from the dark and twisty books I typically read.

Too sappy
A good book for a teenage girl. This is more like a movie for Hallmark than โa major motion pictureโ.

Complications of Surprising Deathsโฆ
For a wife who became a mother at 17, the loss of her husband and her sister in a car accident generates a compounded grief and loss that becomes further complicated upon learning of the love affair the two had maintained. And the sisterโs betrayal extend further when the baby she left behind with her fiancรฉe was never his baby. Instead, that two month old infant was the product of this secret love affair, a love affair cloaked in secrecy and betrayal. For this young mother, the complications magnify as she struggles with parenting her 16 year old daughter who feels shattered. Rather than destroy the image and love this teen has had for her father, the grieving mother conceals the secret hoping to spare her daughter the grief, anger, and loss she carries. Complicated and emotional, much as the roller coaster of life, the storyโs characters and plot move ever forward slowly and realistically healing with patience, wit, and love. Resolution delivers hope.

Phenomenal!
I always enjoy a great Colleen Hoover read, and Regretting You was no exception. It broke my heart and then pieced it back together again. Phenomenal. The movie adaption was beautifully made as well, capturing the emotional depth of the story in a way that felt true to the book. Regretting You is a reminder that love isnโt about the absence of temptation, but about the choice to protect what matters most. โAttraction isnโt something that only happens once, with one person. Itโs part of what drives humans. Our attraction to each other, to art, to food, to entertainment. Attraction is fun. So when you decide to commit to someone, you arenโt saying, โI promise Iโll never be attracted to anyone else.โ Youโre saying, โI promise to commit to you, despite my potential future attraction to other people.โโ I look at Clara. โRelationships are hard for that very reason. Your body and your heart donโt stop finding the beauty and the attraction in other people simply because youโve made a commitment to one person. If you ever find yourself in a situation where youโre drawn to someone else, itโs up to you to remove yourself from that situation before it becomes too hard to fight.โ

Book review
Its a good book, with a good story line. But I feel it'd be 5 stars if she had explored the relationship between the sister and the husband and also if she would have read the letters
