The meter is compact and seemingly well-built. Believe it is tough enough for a rough and tumble if necessary.The LCD display is a bit small; however, that comes with its compactness.The included splitter is a nice bonus and be aware that it has two loops: x1 and x10, the latter for use in measuring small currents with greater resolution. Probes are included for measuring voltage and resistance.With the clamp, the meter can measure both DC current (via a built-in Hall effect sensor, I believe) as well as AC current by induction sensor.Note: the meter, upon turn on, and setting to Amps, defaults to DC amps. You will need to press the AC/DC button to toggle it to AC if you wish to measure AC current.The included carrying case is also a nice bonus!All in all, an excellent instrument.

This clamp on amp meter/multi-meter has an improved feature set compared to what was available 15 years ago when I purchased my last digital clamp on amp meter. The addition features include AC or DC amperage and a resistance/audible continuity scale. I appreciate the extra features. Unlike a previous review, my meter uses 2 AAA batteries. I would prefer that it used AA or a 9 volt battery, but I would not have made the purchase if it used "coin" style batteries. After the brief test, the features seem to work adequately. I also purchased the Tekpower splitter which allows a standard NEMA 5-15 cord and plug connected device to be monitored for 1X amperage, 10X amperage, and voltage. It is a handy accessory. The test leads appear to be made of good quality material, much better than one would find included with an $8.00 bargain multi-meter.. The plastic zipper case is of questionable quality. I don't expect it to last very long. Opening the battery compartment requires a Phillips head screw driver that is much smaller than a #1 Phillips. Think the size of screwdriver that would be used to work on eyeglasses. This type of meter is most likely used in the field for trouble shooting. Requiring a Phillips screwdriver of that size in a construction or field service environment for a vital operation such as changing batteries is a poor design. Subtract 1 star for battery accessibility. Looking for a more suitable case.

I purchased this item for the universal outlet on the wire splitter. It came with a US only outlet. I will keep it and use an adapter, but that's not what I wanted to do. This product is very well made and seems good quality. Maybe after I get an adapter and use it, I'll give it a higher rating.I contacted the seller concerning the picture being misleading and the only response was "I regret no universal outlet available". They did respond quickly, I must admit that.I still haven't had a chance to use it as I've got to get an adapter for the wire splitter.

After having this for about 1 week, have found it very accurate and easy to use. The default to measuring DC current (for me) is advantageous, as that is what I am primarily using it for. Have another rather expensive clamp-on ammeter as my comparison for all functions. This one is actually easier to use. The volt-ohm function works fine. The AC line splitter is well built, but the lettering is a bit hard to see in low lighting due to lack of contrast. I noted some reviews stating the there was a flaw in its wiring, but took mine apart and it is entirely sound. It does also come with very nice, durable case and the test leads. Am extra-pleased with and recommend it for anyone needing an AC/DC clamp-on ammeter with quick check continuity, voltage and ohms functions. It is very well built.

the current reading seem to flop around a lot not very stable, not sure if this normal.

I'm quite pleased with this meter...for the price, I was expecting some degree of "rinky-dink"-ness, but found it to be a well built unit. I haven't got the equipment to judge its overall precision/accuracy, but operation is straightforward. It's also very nice that the unit comes with a decent carrying case for the meter, leads, and breakout plug.

This meter works very good. I got it to use in my workshop to test the amps that my alternator is putting out when charging my battery bank. I use the battery bank to run my pure sine wave inverator which is a 2.5kw out put. The wire splitter is also very handy in checking the amps my electric 2 HP motor is using. I give this meter a 5 star + because it can check AC and DC amps. If you need a good meter to check AC and DC amps then you need this meter.

I bought this so I could measure DC amps on a van. Worked great. Good price with the wire splitter included and carrying case. I highly recommend.
