Sony Alpha DSLR-A300 / A350 Digital Field Guide Paperback – November 24, 2008

I don't know how many A-300/350 users there are anymore, but the book is still a solid manual for using most any DSLR-style camera, but especially Sonys. It covers shooting technique very well. So if you have the chance to pick up a used copy, give it a once-through with whatever your gear is. Disclosure: I was the technical editor for the book.

I love Sony and their history of solid electronics. The Sony A300/350 is no exception to their proven track record with even more capabilities than we might expect at first. Having paired their electronics with the Minolta A-Mount autofocus lens architecture offers a huge selection of excellent, yet inexpensive A-Mount lenses to choose from. The manual that comes with the A350 is the only weakness that needs improvement in my opinion. This field guide offers a nearly complete review of the settings and the menu structure within the camera and explains the uses of the many features. While there are many books on the subject of photography that explain the art of photograph, that is, composition, aperture and shutter speed selection, depth of field and the like - this field guide also goes into the basics of those topics. If you own, or plan to purchase, a Sony A300 or A350, I believe this is the book for you - it is clear, concise, well illustrated and easy to understand.

I was worried about learning to use my Sony Alpha 300 camera, but this is the perfect manual. It's clear and well-organized, with lots of color photos, and covers both the features of the camera and the basics of photography. It's been a long time since I thought about f stops and depth of field but this book has clear and simple explanations. Explanations are "chunked" under clear headings so you can skim or go into as much detail as you need.I'm working my way through it from the beginning, but it also has a very usable index for quick answers to specific questions (which I've also used.) It's a great guide to all the features of the camera, and should be included in the box!!

I bought this with my first slr camera. It's a good addition for general questions. Explains a lot that the owners manual doesn't.

This book is EXCELLENT and contains information you must have to use all the features of the terrific camera.

Reading this manual does help clarify and explain some of the camera's features and functions better than owner's manual information.

A very reasonable price for an easy to understand and well written book. The book is not an instant guide to this high tech computerized camera. It is a comprehensive guide to this complicated computer covering virtually every aspect. This book is my favorite on this camera. There is no reason to spend many times the cost of this book on any other book. I have those books and they are not better and not worse, but this book much less expensive. It is a Best Buy.

A great manual to know and to understand the Sony Alpha A350

As ever this Digital Field Guide delivers very clear instructions on how to use your dSLR.First one I had was for my Nikon D40 and this one is for my new Sony Alpha 300.Since my Alpha 300 purchase the Nikon D40 and the accompanying Digital field guide is with my daughter, like me before, we have put both supplied instructions back in the box and rely totally on these digital field guides.These are well written and full of info. on how to operate your dSLR at a basic level and when you want to work advanced.So I wouldn't be without mine - except for the size which makes it a tad large to slip in your average camera bag.At just over a fiver it is great value too...

Sony Alpha DSLR-A300/A350 Digital Field Guide I was a bit suspicious that this was going to be a generic book where the camera code was changed using search & replace, but this book is really tailored for the Sony A300/350.Although I have already read the ownder's manual this book was a progressive walk-through of the camera's features and how to use them effectively. Even the battery was covered and how to best care for it.In my opinion this is an excellent book even if you are a seasoned amateur camera user. Sony Alpha DSLR-A300/A350 Digital Field Guide
