More uniform size grains. Slightly larger than the biggest grains in Morton. My battle line is with those tiny moths. The biggest can be 3/8" but average like 1/4". I just blasted a big one in flight at about 18" and blown to pieces. The salt shot seems to stay together better than Morton. Hits harder. Using the lawn and garden Bug a Salt. I duct taped the safety in the off position. Price... A bit steep when put against Morton but get lots of shots out of one bottle of it. It's worth it to me to be able to nail those suckers. And does seem to increase distance and accuracy a little bit. I have a feeling the different model bug a salt's and age use might have influence how successful an upgrade it is. Edit 11/16/20: Oh yeah it definitely has a longer range. I nailed one at a distance from muzzle of 2-1/2'+. Was on a wall waiting for the grim reaper and it got touched. These things go on the attack if to miss. That's when having the safety disengaged all the time pays off. Follow up salting's gets them sometimes. It's good to have a wet-n-dry vac along with the Bug a Salt. Smaller one will do fine. Of course not! Your loading 4! If you are one of those β€œit’s just salt” kind of people just don’t bother. This munition is a heavier shot as it was made to be so. Size of shot (salt if you feel like calling it that) is much more consistent and less oblong in shape than inferior β€œtable-salts”. The take down power is there. I hunt the much larger Florida verity common house fly and they command respect. The effective range of these firearms are increased by several inches with this munition. And the further away you are the less likely you are to spook your prey.
