Best clippers I've used so far!
Love these clippers! I work as a hairstylist at a busy mens salon and I use these on almost every client in my chair. They are great for taking off bulks of hair as they are originally for animal grooming. They are a lot quieter and more gentle than the oster 76 clippers which I used for a long time, but the 76's wore a lot quicker and I had to go through three of them because I had a lot of issues( not to mention really loud so I could barely hear my clients!) .These clippers I've been using for almost two years and they are great! They are also a lot lighter to hold which makes a difference when cutting hair all day and doing fades, etc. the clippers come with three different speed options for cutting different textures of hair which is awesome! Most of the time I keep the speed on low but the high speeds are great for cutting some thick and coarse hair! Personally I like to use several different clippers for cutting hair but these always have been my go to clipper ( if I need to go back and fix a spot or see any lines or marks) . Just be sure to take care of them , clean the hair out and oil or grease them regularly and they work like a charm.

grooming poodles
i have a miniature poodle mix with very sheep-like hair. i tried few clippers and they usually were pulling his hair. THOSE clippers cut awesome. i only have the blade it came with and it does a great job. it does warm up quickly though on full speed. it doesn't bother me because i only do two areas of a body a day. he was abused before i adopted him and this is a huge deal for him to tolerate clippers. i like the easiness of holding the clippers and 3 speed choices. i maybe will have enough money to get more blades in a future so it would save me time on finishing his paws and face by scissors. i only did cut his hair on his belly and back and his behind, and upper part of legs. this clippers did great job with those parts and #10 blades. i am not a groomer. and for the first time i used it on his body (i do not count the tries of unsuccessful grooming with other brands). i would recommend this clippers. I think having more accessories would be more helpful, but with #10 blades you can do most of the job and just finish with scissors, depending on your budget. It was super easy to use by me.

NOT Cool! And it broke during first use!
Bought this A6 Cool Comfort as a replacement for my +25y A5 which recently suffered an accident. I groom my 2 American Cocker Spaniels at home and have for many years now. First off, I ordered the "aqua sky" color and received the yellow-ish orange color. Annoying, but the color doesn't impact performance. I open the box and am dismayed to see that the power cord is in two pieces - a longer cord with a power adapter at the end and the clipper on the other and the wall outlet plug on a short cord. I can see this possibly being an issue falling apart after frequent use. I plug it in and grab my trusty 7F blade, which sounds *completely* awful once I switch the clipper on. I try the 10 cryo blade that came with the clipper and it's much smoother and quieter. After only 20 minutes, my dog starts pulling away and cringing when i touch her neck. I test the blade on my arm and was pretty shocked at how hot it was, even after such a short time! (For reference, my old A5 would run for over 45 minutes without needing to be cooled at all). I grabbed the Kool Lube and sprayed it down. After 3 cycles of this (Fast/Med/Slow didn't matter), I switched to scissors to give the thing a longer chance to cool down. 30 min later, I had my other dog up and after 5 minutes, the front cover cracked and fell off like others have reported. I rigged up a way to hold the cover on long enough to finish what I absolutely had to. These "lightweight" clippers usually rely on smaller motors (which is where the weight is) so that smaller motor just has to work harder which = more heat. You can also see from the design that there are no air vents in the sides of the handle to allow for air flow, so all of the heat generated by the motor just gets trapped which weakens the plastic cover. The combo of more heat with nowhere for it to go means that the metal components heat the plastic and make it break faster. This clipper is a piece of garbage! Lastly, I called Oster directly because I assumed they value customer loyalty and want to do what they can to make things right. I was given the option of either paying out of pocket to ship them something that broke the first time I used it so a technician could repair it (how do they plan to repair something that is just badly designed??) or returning it to Amazon. So it's being returned and I'm going to spend the money getting my old A5 repaired. Learn from my mistake - don't waste your money.

Very impressive for what I need.
I have a hairball of a cat and decided it was time to shave him. My personal Wahl would not work at all. Granted it is not in the same class as this product but it would not remove any of the cat's fine hair. When this arrived I was impressed with the quality. The extra long cord, the feel of the clipper in my hand and how quiet it was at all speeds. It's not silent, but it did not stress my cat at all. Then it cut the fine cat hair like butter! This was the first time I shaved the cat so it took a couple of hours. In that time the shaver got fairly hot. Not so much for my hand but I was concerned about the blade contact with the cat. A short break let it cool down a bit. Unless you plan on lining up a bunch of cats to be shaved (which I don't) a normal grooming period should be fine. Very much worth the money I spent.

Break easily but work really well.
First of all I want to say that they work really well. They cut through hair like butter compared to all my other clippers I've bought. They are quiet and they don't get hot. That being said they break really easily. The inside is plastic...probably to keep the clippers cool. Which they are. But it didn't take long to break them. I keep tape on them to try and stop the hair from getting inside but it doesn't work that well. Wish this wasn't so flawed. But even though it is I'll probably still buy another. I just can't find clippers that work so well.

A definite upgrade
If you are looking for a pair of clippers for your thick haired pooch, look no further. The new A6 model is a vast improvement from the A5. The motor is quieter and runs cooler, meaning a happier dog, and less downtime while grooming. What is most important to me is the new on switch. The A5 model had a plastic toggle switch which was very vulnerable to damage with a fall from a short distance. The A6 model has a sliding switch encorporated into the body. I personally have found no benefit to the lower speed settings, but they may have important uses I'm not aware of. The device is sturdy, sleek, and fits comfortably in the hand. It's heavy, but I think that speaks to the quality of the motor within. With care, these clippers can cut through thick, coarse, curly and matted fur. Poodle and goldendoodle approved!

Works BEAUTIFULLY!
These are so quiet that I honestly didn't think they were powerful at all and was prepared to be disappointed. But I tried them on my Standard Poodle, which was the main reason I purchased the more professional clipper, and wow - cut through his coarse and curly fur with ease. I wasn't even sure it was clipping until I realized the pile of fur that was stacking up on the floor beneath him. My old cheap clippers took hours to get through one dog - I was done today in about 20 minutes. I'm not a professional, these were purchased just for my own dogs, but the difference in some nice, more expensive, more professional clippers compared to the $50 variety I used to have is amazing. I also purchased from the Amazon warehouse where they offer damaged goods. I honestly have no idea what was damaged about the packaging - it all looked perfect to me and I got a great price to boot.

Overall disappointment - extremely noisy
After using a dinosaur of clippers (also Oster) for years I finally purchased a new one. We (at the time) had five long hair furry kids and they were kept in their summer cuts for about 8 months out of the year. Within the first year something (plastic) snapped and broke leaving the clippers noisier than before. I sent them to Oster under warranty explaining the part that was broke and the amount of noise the clippers made. They came back with that part replaced but the clippers still clacked which was distracting for the dogs. I contacted the repair department and was told they "were fine when mailed back" and they fixed the part that broke. Although I continued to use the clippers the clacking became worse than ever and the unit itself started separating at the top where the blades are inserted. We are beyond warranty and even if we weren't, based on my prior communications with the service department they fixed (the blue plastic part) it. I guess like most other things made years back (the original clippers actually given to me) were made tougher and to last longer (15+ years). As far as comfort, these were very comfortable to hold. Perhaps I got a bad clipper. IDK but definitely felt like it was wasted $$.

Do not buy
After 3 uses the plastic pieces holding the screws have snapped. Blades no longer clip in and only one blade will cut. Gets hot very quick. Absolute garbage.
