Birds of Oregon

The encyclopedia of Oregon birds includes not only information about the bird's presence in Oregon but its life and behavior as well as ID specifics. It is in-depth and thorough, providing a wealth of Oregon detail not available in regional or national references. I use it to learn more about a bird that I admire or why a bird is in my neighbor's yard but not in mine or where I need to look for a certain species. The must-have companion to this is the Handbook of Oregon Birds which gives exact expected arrival/departure dates of species.

My copy looks so used,well beyond"normal wear" that people comment on how I must have been birding for a long time. Its a wreck because I'm always grabbing for it when I least expect it. While I'm cooking or brushing my teeth,times like this that an unknown bird perches momentarily on my feeder or by the bushes. Quick! Quick! Where's THE BOOK!This is the best first book ever. Rather than pictures of birds,each bird gets at least one if not more sketches. They give you the most important identifiers and let you sketch in the rest. Much better that trying to match painting or picture for picture,bird for blueprint.Each bird has more written about it too that helps you get interested in that particular bird and what makes it memorable.

Love this book! It is very well written and organized in a way that makes sense. The descriptions and pictures of the birds are top notch. I would highly recommend this book for identifying Oregon birds.

This is a terrific reference book. Condition was a little poorer than expected, but worth the price to me.

I bought this book based on the reviews, and they could not be more correct. The book is amazing, it f=gives you the distribution of the birds, it is really easy to use, and it has a lo of information of each specie, and for an amateur birder like me, that is awesome!

My parents loved that I got this book so inexpensively, and they use it to identify birds in their backyard. Really nice feel to this book; it's smooth and weighty.

Bought if for my husband who saw it (and loved it) at a friends home. He is an excellent birder.

This is a great resource. I like especially the maps that verify if the bird you're looking for inhabits particular regions of the state and when. Good illustrations and solid information on every page. I love this book.
