Overwhelming.
I woke up at 4am this morning with nothing on my mind but downloading this book on my kindle. After seeing Michelle Knight on the Today Show on Monday 5/5, the day before her book's release, I couldn't wait to hear her story. I've read Elizabeth Smart's book, as well as Jaycee Dugard's book. As disturbing as those stories were, and I mean to in no way minimize their ordeals, I was absolutely OVERWHELMED with the cruelty and abuse endured by Michelle Knight (and Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus). All of these ladies have shown an amazing amount of resiliency and courage that I truly admire. LIke a previous reviewer, I too am not quite finished reading the book, but from the very first page, could not put it down.Michelle describes, in terrifying detail, horrific details of her traumatic capture and subsequent torture at the hands of that monster. It is amazing to me that she survived, let alone found the strength to live life after all that she endured. She also describes the pain of losing her son and I cannot help but think that if she did not have the hope of being reunited with her son, would she have survived? Her home life before reaching the hands of the monster was not by any means ideal. In fact, as you're reading about it, you wonder what could be worse? Poor Michelle found out...living in a hell on earth with her fate in the hands of "the devil himself"I think it is incredibly brave of her to share her story and I'm sincerely praying for every forgotten soul that has had to suffer because of monsters like Ariel Castro. And I promise Michelle, to keep a more vigilant eye, and not easily dismiss anything I may see that sends up warning signals in me. We all have common sense and judgement, we should use it. Perhaps if one of those neighbors had, life would have turned out very differently for those three ladies. I wish them all nothing but happiness.

A story of courage and hope!
Excellent story of courage, hope, and love. Michelle Knight has been through so much in her life, even before she was kidnapped by Ariel Castro, but she has not let the bad define her. She is an amazing person to have endured all she has and to have such a wonderful attitude. I almost stopped reading the book at the point where she got kidnapped because I just didn't want to expose my soul to the horror of it all and I was honestly afraid I would have nightmares. But I am so glad I went ahead and read the whole book because it really was a story of triumph and hope. Michelle triumphed over Ariel Castro and all the bad things that happened to her. It was wonderful to read the end where they escaped and to read about what Michelle is doing with her life now. I hope and pray that she will be re-united with her Son one day because she truly deserves that. Michelle, you are an inspiration to people everywhere. To the lost, the abused, the lonely, to anyone living in poor circumstances. You inspire people to never give up hope.

Truly Tragic but Glorifying to know she is doing so Great.
What I would really like to say is that I hated it. :-) I hated reading how horrible her life was. I hated that she was the victim of this monster. I hated reading how long she was held captive - longer than the other two girls. I hated reading that she was abused (she was graphic talking about it - probably not as graphic as she could be - but it was enough - for me to cry at times). I hated reading that she was so mistreated growing up. I hated that her life was nothing but a series of miserable experiences - with the kidnapping being above and beyond any miserable experience even your worst enemy does not deserve. But I'm so glad I read it for many reasons. One I feel like I gave her a tiny hand up. She wrote this book so I know she gets money for it. If anyone deserves it more...I'm so glad that she got to write this - I'd like to think this success was good for her soul and mental well being. And I'd like to applaud her for being a truly strong person. She might not think it. Traditional middle class people might even have a hard time with that - but this girl - she really proved to be warrior. I'd have her on my side any day. She does not need someone to turn to - she can count on her own self. Michelle - I wish you the very best.

An amazing role model to human kind.
The Times I've wanted to cry reading this book. Michelle is the greatest example of the best role model any person should have. I cannot believe the ordeal she went through, even before the kidnapping. She states that she could not see her mother right now and understandably! That woman did not even go in search for her when she was away. Why?!?! That I will never understand. Especially after seeing all of Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus consistently on the news. That still angers me.I still have very little understanding of thanking God when really the saviour has not been there for her. How can you believe in a God when they let that sort of thing happen?!Michelle is a stronger person than I'll ever be. And what I've read and completed in 3 days has been shocking to the very core. We love you, Michelle. I hope you get to see your son one day.

A story of true courage
I cannot begin to imagine the horrors this lady went though in her years in captivity. A story of great inner strength to go through those horrors and come out and be able to move forwards in life and not hang onto the past. In places maybe a little sketchy, for example, why didn't Amanda talk to the author and Gina, when she was in the bedroom next door. But hey, really, I can't criticise the writings of someone's life.I hope Michelle has found peace.

Heartbreaking
I first watched the movie that is based on this book, I cried the whole way through it as I did the book. It's heartbreak to think that all of this is real. It's unimaginable what these girls went through. I see Michelle as a true inspiration for what she endured for all of those years and to turn out the amazing lady she is today. Well done Michelle for not letting that evil bastard break you.
