A fun deck that could use a little more contrast
Home Run Games 8-bit 2600 Playing Cards is a fun, unique deck that is great to bust out when you are playing with a bunch of people who enjoy old Atari games. But for regular poker players, you are probably going to want to still play with cards that have more contrast. This is a full 52 card set plus a couple jokers and two extra Home Run Games branding cards. The cards are stiff out of the box, just like any new deck, so it will take some time to break them in. But nothing unusual there. The theme is clearly old Atari 2600 games. Each suit, besides having the usual hearts, spades, diamonds, and clubs, also features small retro graphics that represent Pong, Asteroids, Space Invaders, and the tanks from Atari Combat. It's definitely a cool, fun look and Home Run Games tried their best to incorporate some of the graphics around the suits. So space invaders blasts away parts of the hearts, just like you would slowly blast away the barriers between your canon and the invaders. The best use might be the asteroids spacecraft blasting the Atari-asteroid-looking diamonds on the cards. Overall, it's a nice job with the graphics. My only minor gripe is that the contrast on the cards doesn't pop as much as you'd like. So if you are playing a poker game, like hold'em, and you peek at your cards by lifting just the corner off the table, it can be hard to figure out what you have in a one second glance. It's pretty minor, and after a couple hands you sort of get used to it, but I had to dock the deck 1 star because of it. Otherwise, it's still a fun deck that also works well as a cheap gift for a retro gamer in your life.

These are great when you accept them for what they are, a novelty item.
These are not for cardsharps aka cardsharks or anyone looking to do card tricks. The paper isn't of a quality for that. The low contrast between green and black makes them more difficult to read than traditional white cards. That being said, serious card playing is not the market for these. They are a novelty item designed for fun, and fun they are. It hearkens back to those 8bit video games of yore. These are fun for the home enthusiast. I wouldn't play a whole night's worth of cards with them, but I might play an hour's worth with them. They designs are well thought out. Your guests should get a kick out of these. If you buy them for what they are, then you'll be pleased. If you're buying these to be your only deck you'd be buying the wrong product.

Good Cards but Improvements Are Possible!
If you are a fan of Atari and Nintendo I feel like it's a pretty safe bet to say that you will like these cards.Furthermore, as long as you don't plan on practicing card manipulation like fans, double-lifts, color-changes, and street magic flourishes, these cards will hold up to poker games, blackjack marathons, spades, bridge, and any drinking game you can think of.The only attribute that is somewhat lackluster is the coating of the cards themselves. If this company one day adds a UV500 feature & an Air Flow finish, they'll easily have a 5 star product...it would make fanning and other handling smoother. These are still as good as a pack of Bicycles!**Note: I happen to be a nerd about cards. Chances are, any normal customer won't even notice what I'm talking about. The cards will work for you, but if you've purchased cards from big companies like Ellusionist you may notice the handling isn't quite as "buttery" and smooth.Good job, look forward to glossy Air Flow modifications as the company gets bigger!

Fun Gift for Retro Nerds
This is such a fun card game featuring classic 8-bit video game graphics on the face of the cards. Each suite features a different retro game including Pong, Space Invaders, Asteroids. The numbers and suites offer nice 8-bit artwork. My husband and I had fun playing Gin (LOL, I know), with this card game. We are both geeks and he's into video games. This would made a great gift for that retro nerd in your life.Pros: High quality cardstock; rich graphics.Cons: the miniature suite next to the number in the corners of the cards could be a little more defined or different (i.e. Spades, hearts, clubs) because they often look similar in low light when playing.

Amazing graphics, but not smooth for cardistry
I have collected many different types of cards for playing and tricks. The design on these struck my interest, but aside from that design I feel like these could be better for the price. Some pros for these cards are:- The deck comes with a double sided card which can be handy for magic tricks- I really love the design and retro-theme, there are even little surprises in the details (for example on certain cards there is a little spaceship hiding firing at the number)Some cons are:-The cards don't feel smooth- They bend easily- They don't spread too easily- Not good for cardistry or physical tricksFor the money I definitely think they could have done better with the quality, and they could have used air cushion finish or something smoother. But they are OK for playing- as long as you don't expect to do any cool shuffles or physical tricks, these are a decent value.

Fun but a little dark for campfire activities
Whenever we go camping with our Boy Scout troop, inevitably somebody gets bored. And then somebody asks for cards. And then we can't find any. I've learned to stash cards everywhere as a result. This set is a little drab, with the green on black not contrasting as much as I'd like. Scouts often play card games by campfire light under the best conditions, so you really need high contrast to see the cards. The cards themselves are cute pixel cards that match much of the other sets. I assume the reference to "2600" is the Atari 2600, the blockbuster Video Computer System (VCS) that brought arcade gaming into millions of homes. I particularly like the way 8-bit video games were inserted into the numbers, with the hearts being shot up in a game of Space Invaders, and the diamonds navigated by an Asteroids-style spaceship. For ten bucks, if there's a retro gamer in your life, this is a great gift. Just be sure you play with plenty of light.
