Read with Caution
I am on page 30 of this book and I have to say there are a few things I read that I liked; and many things which I personally disagree with. If I had to guess I would say this book was written by a non fruitarian. It's a good book to read to see the counter arguments for fruitarianism-which is what I will probably used the book for. For example she argues that fruits do not have enough nutrients- I personally do not believe this is true; I learned in college that you can get everything you need from fruits and my experience as a fruitarian proves this is true I have had my levels checked many times on this diet and they have almost always came back perfect; the only time there was an issue is when I was in the hospital and I was subject to eating hospital fruit and my b12 came back slightly low; so they gave me b12 for a few days and stopped it very quickly. I have been following the diet for over a year and I take no supplements etc I get EVERYTHING I need from FRUIT & I look and feel great! She argues that it may cost a lot out of your budget- I respectfully disagree. I bottomed out in a one time violent food addiction July of 2017- I had to move home with family and I was not even two weeks in to my diet I was scared to death- I had however been working a food addiction recovery program for a few months prior to actually taking my last bite of addictive food. My mom is not one to let me live on her dime, so I was very nervous about how I was going to maintain my recovery from food addiction- but I knew that 1 whole watermelon lasted me about a week at first; I believe this is because my stomach was so used to eating processed high calorie garbage-so when I started feeding it fruits it would fill up so easily- It had to stretch out- which it did as I continued feeding it fresh fruits and veggies. I personally believe that fruits and veggies and fruitarianism is so healthy that we can eat a lot less and be perfectly in perfect health- I know I was- I got checked at the hospital many times- levels and all! Mom supplied me with about 1300 kcals in fruit day-now that I can eat whatever I want I eat about 1600 kcals a day! I believe this is a cheaper diet as mom was in no hurry for me to go out and find work and I had plenty of energy to help out around the house and with the dog! We used to walk 2 hours every day when I was a brand new fruitarian! When I ate a S.A.D. diet (standard american diet) mom told me I had to go and get a job because I would eat everything and the shelves would be bare. Not so on the fruitarian diet I may have eaten up all the fruit but that was about the extent of my foodoholism with fruitarianism -praise God! And if mom said if I wanted to continue on my path and take longer to find a job that was fine to. I also respectfully disagree that fruitarianism limits your social life- I get to date more and far better gentlemen to! I go to more restaurants I just order very carefully I ask for fresh cut fruit or a salad with fresh cut veggies only! I live with family and I think they all in my opinion appear to have at least an respectful awareness & appreciation for my diet- and they too helped me with it by supplying me at times when I couldnt what my body needed and craved- and eating more fruits themselves! She writes that this diet may result in catabolism or slow metabolism- once again I respectfully disagree; I usually go to the bathroom to poop out whatever I ate that day- that same day- usually with in hours. I feel like this diet nourish and hydrate my body so, that I can do anything and everything and more! When I first got started and I had to limit myself so I didnt burden my mom to much- I still wanted to move I automatically started doing walking the dog 2 hours daily and doing more and being more consistent. I developed some new habits like singing and although I dont eat S.A.D. food myself I found that I did for the first time enjoy cooking it for others-and I felt I did it better than ever, I believe, thanks to eating a fruitarian diet. I feel as though I have an endless reserve of energy so I dont feel that energy is easily depleted on this diet as the book suggest. Then there is the good old sugar argument- It's my understanding that unlike sugars in cake- the sugar that is found in fruit is natrall and does not spike one's blood sugar! And I have heard of countless stories on plant based diets reversing diseases such as diabetes- not causing them! What I really appreciate about this chapter in her book is all though I personally believe most of her counter arguments are false, I do appreciate how she argues them from the viewpoint of say what most popular misinformation is available- therefore this is a great book to read even if you dont agree with it-just to know what criticas and counter arguments may come up for fruitarians! She writes that this diet contains to much sugar and can that can be bad for the teeth; I personally believe good teeth health comes from good nutrition and as previously mentioned my levels are perfect and we can get everything we need from fruits! My teeth have never looked healthier then on this diet! I believe most people believe that good teeth health comes from brushing and flossing etc. I personally believe good teeth comes from good nutrition! Also she says studies have shown certain things but does not explain what these studies are or who did them giving no proof of this claim.

I don't know where to start...
Unfortunately, this book is full of misinformation, half truths, and misconceptions, I would advise you to steer clear of this book.* most people are lacking vitamins and minerals, not just fruitarians. That's why we have a booming supplement business in most countries.* you do not need 30-40 % of your calories coming from fats and proteins* diabetes can thrive on a fruitarian diet* for most people, it's a lifestyle, not just a "diet"* since a fruitarian diet is typically 75% or more fruit-based, most fruitarians include leafy greens, which are an incredible source of various vitamins and minerals* mono-meals actually aid in digestion* you do not need to calorie restrict to lose weight on a fruitarian diet, but you should exercise no matter what your eating style. Our bodies were created to move. For anyone interested in fruitarianism, check out 80/10/10 by Doug Graham. It will give you all the tools and Information you need.Even with it costing less than $1.00, this book was a waste of money.

It is simple and easy to understand
I recently purchased this book to learn more about Fruitarianism. This book is insightful, health conscious and well written. It is simple and easy to understand. Barb is realistic and recognises there are some downsides and doesn't sugar coat the facts. However, the lifestyle works well for her and is encouraging me to try it.
