This Story is Not For Everyone. Consider Yourself Warned.
I read this story a long time ago and to this day I remember it and it's not because I loved it. I wish I could say I did but love is the last thing I feel for this book. It is honestly one of my least favorite stories and I take part of the blame because no one made me read this book. I chose to read it, so my terrible reading experience is my fault and my fault alone, but I can't take the blame for the story itself. Only my experience.I took a chance on Mafia Captive knowing full well Leo was into BDSM, which is something I don't personally care for but I can read it if the story sounds promising. And this one did. I went into it stupidly thinking that maybe just maybe Leo would change for Faith, and the author definitely made it seem like a possibility and I held onto hope until the very last page but guess what...*Spoiler alert! Don't read past this point if you don't want to read any spoilers!*He never changed! Not even when Faith took a bullet for him. A bullet! What kind of man does that?! Faith risked her life for Leo and he still didn't appreciate her after she nearly died for him. And she did it on their wedding day of all days! Faith even changed for him, because when they first met she did not want to submit to him. She was not into the idea of a Dom/Sub relationship, but eventually she gave in and tried it for him. Why? Because she loved him! But he never appreciated any of this. He just took and took but he never gave back to her like she deserved. The only good thing I can say about Leo is that he never forced her to do anything she didn't want to do BUT he did pressure her by strutting random women in front of her and taking them to his "special room" where he would make them submit to him. This in itself made her jealous and pushed her to try a lifestyle she never cared for and as a reader I don't appreciate this one bit, because even though he didn't force her, he practically peer pressured her into submitting to him. That is deplorable in my eyes. What angers me most though is that she not only became his Sub, but she also accepted him as he was. She accepted his lifestyle and devoted her life to him but he didn't see any of this. How could a man not see any of this?! Everything she did, she did it for him, but he didn't see any of it, and honestly, I don't even know if I should be surprised. *sighs*All I can say is, if you are anything like me and have hope Leo will change for the better, just let it go. He will never change. If he can't change for the woman who risked her life for him, how could we expect him to change for anyone? He is a self-centered, egotistical character who is incapable of change. And in the end, he was still the same guy who put his needs above hers. The worst part is, Leo never learned to appreciate the incredible woman he had and I could never respect a man like him, much less feel anything for a character like him. To me, Leo doesn't deserve any sympathy. I don't care what his life story is. His character is a sad excuse for a man and has no redeeming qualities.I give Leo and his story one star because this story brought me nothing but disappointment.

Beautiful Example of Building Characters & Story
I admit, I am used to dark to VERY dark &/or morally challenging stories from Ms Thomas. And while this story certainly does have dark portions. elements & scenes, IMO this is first & foremost a stellar character study of two people brought together by a random & frightening circumstance: Faith (h) & Leo (anti-H). As a direct result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time & seeing a dangerous act, Faith finds herself abducted by a Mafia leader & handed to his brother Leo to be Leo's personal slave in 'all' things & ways.Leo has for decades dreamt of, & eagerly desired, a true s*xual slave. Not one of his paid 'playmates' but one that could not leave, could not say no & would take whatever dark BDSM appetites he dished out. And now, his brother & head of their Mafia organization has provided Leo with exactly that in Faith. And this is where what might have been a predictable plot to veer into fascinating territory as far as I was concerned.Faith isn't kinky. At all. In any way. She doesn't even spin towards light bondage or domination. But not only is Leo VERY wired that way, he is VERY kinky, very into BDSM & is intent on having his long wanted slave. But Leo has a conscience & it is on an intense seesaw with his s*xual wants & needs. On one hand he IS a Mafia family member, he does feel he now OWNS Faith, he feels she MUST acquiesce to his orders, wants & demands. BUT, he doesn't want to truly 'damage' Faith, he keeps hoping that as he exposes her to his appetites she'll develop an affinity, or at least a tolerance for them. But she doesn't. Faith seesaws between terror of being killed, fear of what Leo does/wants to do to her & trying to resign herself to submitting to Leo to save her life. And slowly both Leo & Faith stumble into caring for each other, if not accepting the others proclivities. And this, IMO, was the beautiful & deft story Ms Thomas weaves for the reader. Can Leo change his appetites? Probably not, he's hard wired for his desires. Can Faith change hers? Again, probably not, because she isn't hard wired that way. And that's a truth in real life too, many times people meet & are not perfectly matched. But can Leo & Faith adapt, compromise, adjust themselves to some extent, be it in small ways or large? With caring, concern & perhaps even love, perhaps they may.Is there darkness? Yes.Is there light? Yes.Does it make your heart ache & also feel warm? Yes.For the reader who loves seeing the journey, the growth, the building of 2 fascinating characters in an intriguing plot that the reader becomes wonderfully invested in, I highly recommend this book.

Interesting dynamic
Faith is on her way home from a club alone because her friends still want to party. On her way home she sees Angelo the mobster kill a guy. He takes her and instead of killing her he has his kinky brother take her in as his slave. His brother Leo thinks she is gorgeous but on their first night Faith is so scared so even when most women he knew would be turned on by what he was doing she wasnt wet at all. He vowed to stay away from her after that until a few weeks later when his whole Italian family come over for Christmas. His brother Angelo says that Leo and Faith are engaged so that their mother will not bring their attention to Angelo being gay. Can Faith pretend to be engaged to a man who scares her or will he drive her over the edge

This has no love
There was nothing redeeming for either character. She was used, abused, both verbally and physically. If she doesn't learn to accept his sexual deviants and "enjoy" what does to her she is threatened with her own death. He never thinks of her as anything more than his slave even after he confesses his so called love for her. He reminds her nothings changed to which she replies yes master. Darn you didn't give him not one redeeming quality and her a backbone. You should have burnt this instead of publishing! P.S. I've read some really bad books but this is the first one I've taken time to rant about. Its that bad people. Save your time and money.

Terrific!!!
Brilliant. Loved it and already want to read it again. One of my fave books is A Bedtime Story: LC Moon. There are many similarities between these two stories. I don't want to spoil anyone's enjoyment of either book, so can't say what they are; if you love one of the 2 books, then read the other one. You'll love that one too.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bedtime-Story-Trilogy-Book-ebook/dp/B00R742QSQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1453425596&sr=1-2&keywords=A+bedtime+storyI loved the strong Alp here, Leo. He was sexy as heck one moment, then quietly terrifying the next. He is a Doctor; Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Faith is the much younger He. that he kind of rescues, while imprisoning her; delightful. She is almost everything he needs in a female, and the 'missing' bit is no problem; he'll remake her to suit his kinky ways. She's a challenge but it's a brilliant build up.The pace is very good; I read it in one go. Just could not put it down. I've read other books by this author, and have yet to be disappointed.Characters are all flesh and bone; 3D and real. Faith is very believable as the heroine who is simply trying to stay alive. She's sometimes soft and lovely but also brave and intuitive for her young age. All the characters are great here. The secondary characters could easily be featured in any future series, they were that interesting. Leo's complex needs and love life make for a fascinating read.Read this book if you like dark and thrilling stories. You won't be disappointed.

Not worth the money
*Spoilers*I liked the idea of the book and the story but I was disappointed with the pace of the book and the ending. The characters grew and evolved in the beginning of the book and then stopped after the first third of the story. I expected that she would grow to feel something for him and he for her but the relationship developed to half love half terrified and never went further. For me personally, and I realise this is just because of what I like and is not a criticism of the book, I didn't like that he didn't compromise in any way. I know he went slow for her and didn't act on all his urges but I still felt like it was his way or no way.The ending was disappointing, I didn't expect it to end and that wasn't because I was so engrossed in the story it was because I really feel it wasn't a natural ending. The sex scenes were lacking and some glossed over where I felt they should have been detailed, it would have added to the story. The book generally was slow in places it should have been rushed and rushed in places where we should have been given more detail. If the book was cheaper, I could have said it was worth the read. Even though still not majorly expensive, I probably wouldn't advise people to pay this much for it.Generally a bit of a let down.

Doesn't leave you with the fuzzies
Kitty Thomas always engages her reader from the beginning of her book and as each page unravels her delivery leaves you sometimes with a whiskey, tango, and foxtrot moment. As usual I started reading this thinking "mmmmm" she has changed tact and if doesn't seem to be the usual story and then wham - she does the WTF thing with your head! Kitty Thomas has done it again and delivered a story with a classic twist.Mafia Captive begins with Faith Jacobson witnessing a mob hit. Instead of being moments from death the mobster - Angelo Raspallo decides to give her as a gift to his brother Leo. Angelo believes it is the opportunity for his brother to live out his fantasy of having a real sex slave. Leo is a dominant and a sadist and does not compromise on this with any of his sexual partners until he meets Faith. She is young, innocent but no masochist and is terrified of what Leo might do to her. As the story progresses, Faith's attraction for Leo also develops and so does her desire to please him.I thought her choice of names for the characters was very apt. Were they coincidental or deliberate, I wonder?Angelo - an angel and a messenger;Faith - trusting and loyal;Leo - the lion depicted for its character and strength. So don't start reading this thinking that this is a story about a Mafia family. It's not. Neither is it a story of kidnapping, sexual subjugation or a story about a conflicted man............. it goes further than that. It brings together Faith and Leo's journey. Hers is one of self discovery, finding out what is important to her. Leo's is about his inner battle between right and wrong and being merciful trying to fulfil his sexual needs. There was one downside for me and I don't know how other readers felt about this? The final scene where Faith and Leo are having a pivotal moment that is going to be significant to their relationship - I wished that Kitty would have put in a bit more detail here.Kitty Thomas does not write straight and simple erotica but always delivers a strong flowing story and her writing is vivid. She makes her readers feel and think. So when I closed the final page she left me with a number of questions and conflicting thoughts about the catholic aspect - being a catholic myself - but I won't go there in this review.

Unsexy!
I'm afraid I really struggled with this book, I know in the blurb it said the heroine wasn't into bdsm, but I thought it would be about him teaching her and her learning to love it. But the extent to which she disliked it was extreme, to the point after the first attempt they just didn't bother anymore and he brought other women home to play in his basement/dungeon and she would end up sneaking a listen at the top of the stairs. Only at the very end of the book did they give it another go and then it ended. A pretty boring and uneventful story.

3 1/2 stars
I'm a little on the fence with this book as there were parts of it that were quite good and others that didn't quite meet expectations. I think because I read this book after another one by the same author (which was absolutely brilliant), I was a little disappointed that this didn't match the same level. The first half of the book is very good- with the building relationship between Leo and Faith, I just felt a little dragged with the second half and the ending (which was really good) seemed to be quite rushed.I'm not necessarily saying I thought the book wasn't any good, it's probably just that I have read so much better by this author.

The romantic side of Kitty Thomas
This wasn't my first Kitty Thomas, and her books aren't for everyone, but this is one that I'd be more likely to recommend to a wider audience. It also is a slight departure from her normal studies of human interaction. The growth and development of the relationship between non-kinky Faith and her Master Leo was touching and heartbreaking. Besides the two main characters there was enough activity with the supporting family to keep the story alive and flowing. It might not showcase the author's writing skills as well as her other books, but I have no problem giving this book five stars because I could not put it down. I am a huge fan of romance with a twist in the tale. Ms Thomas does not disappoint.

Loved It
Mafia Captive is about Faith, who has witnessed a Mafia hit and Leo who has to deal with the situation.Once again Kitty Thomas delivers the goods. I love Kitty Thomas's style of writing. She draws you in from the first chapter and doesn't let you go until the last page. This book wasn't as dark and gritty as her usual style but I still loved it. Complex, thought provoking and not always comfortable to read but definitely gripping.Faith, I could have given a good shake sometimes but she came through in the end and Leo was complex and disturbing but you are drawn to him regardless.I much prefer Ms Thomas's darker books but this was still a class read.

Dark Romance!
As expected, this book is dark, dangerous with one HOT alpha male. Non-con capture fantasy as it's best.

Another amazing book by the incredible Kitty Thomas. This story has its usual nonconsent slave (forced) but by the end they're willing slave call it Stockholm Syndrome but she has a way to make the readers forget who's the bad guy in the story....I always end up getting on the bad guy side and bashing the heroine not to give more...I know its messed up but like I said the way Kitty writes you completely forget who's bad and who's good.Normally Kitty Thomas goes way dark and extremely graphic in her BDSM scenes but this book I found more tame....it's an incredible book with amazing characters!!Now I'm in Kitty withdrawls :)

interesting stoy
I can assert this, I’m not a big fan of true, harsh sadomasochistic relationship. But I liked Comfort Food so very much for the kind of poetry it encompassed that I wanted to try few other Kitty Thomas’ books.Mafia captive is a strange book. Dark and yet not so very dark. In few points, it even seemed romantic.Unlike Comfort Fook, the MCs here were not completely of my liking. He was often sorry for himself and few time sounded pathetic. She… well she was irritating. I mean, I know she was the wronged one, but I found the way she dealt with the whole situation annoying.First half of the story was a bit slow, but the second half took up speed and became fast-paced enough to be truly enjoyable.
