Great Reference to stories
Awesome amount of reference work and exciting information. Very well researched and written. For myself I was looking more for the legends and stories themselves, whereas this book refers to the legends with such comments as "there is a legend popular in the area that tells of...".So depending on your wishes and desires this book may or may not suit your needs. But it is an overall excellent work.

Loved the book
I thought the book was interesting, entertaining and fun. I now know things I did not know on subjects that I had little or no knowledge about.I find all of Brads books worth reading for just those reasons. There is so much in this world we do not understand that finding material to form some type of knowledge base from is very difficult yet important to do. I for one do not plan to spend my entire life in the dark about all the subjects we think of as paranormal . This book like all of Steigers books allow me to figure out what may or may not be going on out there in the unknown. I loved the book and think you will too.

No! No! No!
Are you kidding me? I spent ten dollars on this book because i read a review online calling it the scariest book ever. I can only say that if your looking for a horror book this is not one, save your money.

A little of this...and some of that....
Don't buy this book if you are just looking for a scary story that reads like a novel, that isn't what it is. However, it is still worth a read. The book covers a wide expanse of weird and spooky tales and legends from around the world. A great book to give you food for thought and direction to go looking deeper if you like any of the topics covered. Only gave 4 stars since it lacks some consistancy in the depth in which it covers the different topics (some things get pages and pages while others are only mentioned in passing). Only truely scary if you believe what the people who recall the first hand accounts say, but does give you some leads to follow up with to attempt to establish credibility of the contributors. Worth reading by anyone who has spent any time in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Brad Steiger Raises the Dead with Real Zombies!
I usually take some time to review Mr. Steiger's work, but only because I actually take the time to read the whole entire book! And, as usual, I was NO disappointed. But I was scared. MY GOD was I scared! I hope you are not easily scared! Brad Steiger does it again, but was there ever really any doubt? In "Real Zombies, The Living Dead and Creatures of the Apocalypse", Steiger brings to light those seriously evil, undead, truly mysterious creatures of the dark that you usually only hear about in scary as heck horror movies or, if you're lucky, a super cool bed time story! But don't make the same mistake I did and read this before going to bed, because I PROMISE YOU, IT WILL SCARE THE HECK OUT OF YOU! Don't misunderstand, this isn't your usual, run-of-the-mill re-hashing of fake zombie stories, ripped from the headlines at a lazy pace. No, my friends. This is Brad freakin' Steiger we're talking about here. In this latest opus, you WILL read about actual REAL ZOMBIES, REAL WENDIGOS, Hitler's secret quest to make the whole world into his Zombie slaves (no really, it's in the book!), heck, Brad'll even show you how Zombies are made! Oh and there's even a really neat chapter about Curses, Hexes and much, SO MUCH MORE!! Why wait for Halloween? BUY THIS BOOK RIGHT NOW! I MEAN IT! It's the absolute, hands down, SCARIEST THING I HAVE EVER READ and I want to read it again!I cannot wait until his next one, he just never stops delivering awesomeness in text form!

Ridiculous! Not Very Good
Brad Steiger has made a living writing about the paranormal and he's created a huge body of work.I admire anyone with enough energy and courage to decide to rely on writing books and articles to make a living.Having said that, this is a very bad book and I'm glad I checked mine out from the library instead of buying it.For starters, Steiger is actually more of an editor of this book than an author; a good deal of the book was written by other people who made their words available to Steiger. For another, not much of this book actually deals with zombies. Aliens, voodoo curses, plain old ghosts, all make their appearance, but not many zombies. And finally, most of this book reads like fiction instead of true stories of the supernatural.I won't call these authors liars, but their accounts don't ring true.I don't get any pleasure from tearing down the hard work of people more talented than I am, but I can't recommend this book to anyone. If you want to see what Steiger's work is about, I'd advise buying The Terrible Thing in the Attic or something like that.

Wow Rare combination of Creepy and high quality!
I've read many of Brad Steiger's works and have always been impressed with his ongoing range of categories, and perhaps one of the best examples of this is the latest book "Real Zombies, the living dead, and creatures of the apocalypse". An anthology between real accounts of peoples experiences, and well researched history, this tome shouldn't be overlooked. I personally found it to be a rare blend of well researched, entertaining and of a high quality publication both in design and lay out. With some 170 titles to his credit he never ceases to amaze me with his ability to find new content to explore as well as to expand on prior topics as new technologies and wisdoms come about. Most of his works I have found informative, this is one of the few that not only did I find insightful, but downright Creepy! One story within hit close to home, lets just say I won't be partying in any hot tubs any time soon! I hope everyone gets out of this collection as much as I did. Well done Mr. Steiger, well done indeed.
