The box was open and although the inner bag was sealed, the cereal was very stale. Never had any cereal as stale. I complained and was given a refund. My fault for not reading the reviews, others have had the same issue.

During the Coronavirus, we missed our favorite cereal and were willing to pay more for it. This $12 box of cereal was old and stale. Very disappointed.

Purchased locally, the outer box was damaged when I purchased it and since it was the only/last one, I purchased it anyway. I poured the contents into one of those sealable cereal containers. It was also the new recipe and I found this quote from an article last year:"Honey Smacks is making a comeback following a massive recall this summer after the Kellogg Co. cereal was linked to a salmonella outbreak. ... The cereal will have "a simpler, updated recipe, while still delivering deliciously sweetened, honey-flavored puffed wheat cereal," according to a press release from Kellogg Co."I don't remember any recall (except for one many years ago when the packaging was changed from foil to plastic?), but I do recall the perception of Honey Smacks being hard to find.I write all of this to say that I HATE the new recipe. I don't know why Kelloggs can't clean up the process of the old recipe to avoid salmonella. But the new recipe tastes like those generic copies of Honey Smacks, tasteless.I'll probably end up pouring the rest of the new recipe Honey Smacks into the trash.

This cereal is stale. Didn’t expect them to taste bad.Refund please…..

The cereal has been stale fot at least two years. Nobody likes it anymore in our house. My dad ust to have a bowl every night for years.. as well as myself. I try it every once in awhile to see if i can get a fresh box. Its not the freshness its the recipe change . Because as someone described it is sweetened Styrofoam. Im as least going to finish the box instead of throwing them away this time. After confirming that its supposed to be like this im done with my sugar smacks honey smacks crap smacks.
