***The shield with the numbers below it in the product picture gives the following ratings on the EN 388 gloves protection performance test. Abrasion resistance: 4 out of 4, Blade cut resistance: 5 out of 5, Tear resistance: 4 out of 4, Puncture resistance: 2 out of 4. That means these are great for pretty much everything except puncturing/sticking yourself with the pointy end of your knife or the serrated edges of a knife.*** http://www.guide.eu/en/info/EN/en388.htmlI bought these about a month ago and have used them many times now to grate carrots, potato, zucchini, etc on a box grater, to grate garlic and other smaller things on a microplane, while slicing and dicing with knives, and even on the dreaded mandolin that was collecting dust in my cabinet because I'd been afraid to use it. :D These gloves have rescued my fingertips from getting grated or sliced right along with my food multiple times now after a month's worth of cooking, and they are still fully intact. They have also rescued me once already from slipping with my knife over the round top of an onion I was cutting. (Knife was duller than it should be, I know. We're looking for the best thing to sharpen it with.) The weave on them is nice and tight, and still no fraying -- not even at the fingertip ends after raking them across microplanes and box graters. Carrot juice and whatnot will turn them orange, but they wash well in the washing machine (although they are bit more snug fit after washing, it's nothing so drastic that they didn't fit my hand). They are surprisingly sturdier than they look. To be honest, when I got them I didn't think they'd hold up that well because the stuff they're made of just looks like plasticy fiber threads. But I've been pleasantly proven wrong, and it's clearly made of what they actually advertise that it is, because it works. They've been put to good use for a month, and there's absolutely no sign of battle scars on them yet. After a good wash, they still look brand new. They fit nice and snug (at least on me), especially after washing, so I definitely don't have to worry about them sliding around on my hand, but this of course may vary for different sized people using different sized gloves. (I'm a 5'5" tall woman with long fingers, and I ordered the size small.) They look a little wide right at the fingertip when you first get them, but for me at least, that was remedied when I washed them. I suspect they are made a little wider at the fingertip on purpose so that they still fit right after the fibers tighten when they're washed.I would recommend these for other people like me who: are clumsy, prep a lot of veggie all at once, use dull knives, don't have chef knife skills, like to get too close when grating or slicing because we take the "waste not, want not" adage too seriously, or... really for anyone. I mean, even professionals slip up and cut themselves sometimes (and often pretty badly, too, when they do). I'd even trust these to put on kids when they are learning to use a knife, they really are that good. The only thing they really seem vulnerable to at all is poking with the pointy end of the knife, which can get through the weave a bit, but they are appropriately rated in the description for that. As for slicing and cutting and grating by hand, they are golden! After trying other "cut resistant" woven type gloves that were highly disappointing (and were already fraying when I got them!), these are a pleasant surprise. Definitely would recommend them to anyone, including my friends. And the price point is right on -- I've tried other, cheaper gloves, and frankly they don't cut it. (har, har) ;)Please note that I haven't used them to protect myself from cutting with any kind of powered appliance or tool, so I can't rate them for that. I'm pretty sure they aren't meant for that anyway. I've used them with hand-powered kitchen tools: box grater, microplane, mandolin, knives.

I bought these gloves so accidents like this won't happen again
I have seven stiches in two fingers. I was shaping a knife at work when my hand slipped, slicing open two fingers on my dominant hand. I bought these gloves so accidents like this won't happen again. The shipping was very fast, taking just one day. I decided to do some tests on the gloves. I used a straight-edged pairing knife and a serrated steak knife. I first put a baby carrot in the finger hole. Slicing the carrot area with slight and moderate pressure will both knives. The serrated knife made a slight hole, but the carrot was fine. I then took a firm avocado and placed it in the palm area. A few swipes with the sharp pairing knife and the avocado was slit, but not too deep.I work as a butcher three days a week. I would NOT recommend this to anyone who works with knives. If you're going to be using it at home for occasional use, that's fine. If not, don't waste your money on these. Spend the extra money on a higher quality pair.

Don't regret getting your hand injured again!
Ever since I received a bad cut from a sharp blade, I knew I don't want to make the same mistake again. I've bought Kaffyad Cut Resistant gloves because one of my friends bought it for themselves in the kitchen and loved it. After receiving in the mail, I wanted to try cutting myself with the knife, risking my hands and fingers once more. Turns out, these gloves gets the job done protecting my fingers and my palm. No cuts, no blood. The only thing that these gloves would not protect from is a stabbing motion if the blade is long enough. If you are concerned of the risks involved handling blades, this is the best kind of gloves for the value and the durability. Don't wait! For safety in mind and avoiding a visit to a ER for a hand injury.

I put it to the test and I am impressed. It out performed on so many levels. GREAT BUY.
I wore it when I butchered a 850 pound hog. It actually protected me from one very serious slip of the knife. This is so much better than I anticipated. I kept my knives razor sharp and this glove actually did save me a trip to the emergency room. Face it. Fingers don't just grow back on. I was not inconvenienced by this glove at all. I could still get a good grip with it on. I actually take the time to put it on when I am doing general slicing and routine cutting in the kitchen. It has survived a few washings just like regular laundry while still retaining its original shape. I have big hands and this one is not shrinking down. I have put it to the test and thankfully I can give it two thumbs up. Pun intended.

Saved my palm from being sliced right off
I have used these 3 times and they have already saved my palm from being sliced off! I wear them while using my mandolin and the other day I was slicing an onion without the safety thingy and got down to the end of the onion and way too close, my palm slid right across the super sharp blade but no damage was done, the glove did not get cut at all and it saved me from a very nasty cut. I should have used the little safety attachment to slide the onion across the blade but hind sight is 20/20 and I am a knucklehead at times. Thankfully I had this glove on and it saved the day.........and my palm.

Great glove for the price. Works well.
I have some very sharp knives and wanted to save my fingers from being added to salads. Since I have gotten these I have tried on various occasions to slice my fingers and it hasnt happened. They are very durable and work well. They fit well and I have large hands. That was important to me, I mean whats the point of having something if they dont fit. Regardless, I like them. If you are looking for something that is a good price and works these are it.

Made several attempts at shaving cabbage for sauerkraut this year ...
Made several attempts at shaving cabbage for sauerkraut this year. My mandoline is a stealth surgeon and loves to remove bits of my finger tips when I am not looking. These gloves have prevented several serious attempts at amputation on my fingers. I have even taken to placing them over the top of my mandoline in the drawer to prevent "accidents" (like I forgot to engage the locking mechanism). My kitchen knives have all seemed to undergo a behavioural modification; they shy away from these gloves when placed near their racks. This kitchen has been made safe.
