4 PCS Rubber Violin Practice Mute Set, Included 2 PCS Claw Style & 2 PCS Round Tourte Style, Black

The large practice mutes are great for my students and I always buy them these to practice at home. It dampens the sound quite a bit which gives them confidence to practice so not many can hear them. The only reason I’m giving a 4 star review is because the smaller ones that were included do work well, but they are just SUPER hard to put on. My student and I had to use so much force to hook it onto the bridge that the bridge fell off. I had ti put her bridge back on a couple times now. Thankfully I’m a private violin teacher and I’m confident to do fix the bridge, but other people may not be. But when it’s finally hooked on there it does soften the sound!

These mutes are effective and are easy to install.

New to mutes, I didn't know what to expect in terms of sound reduction. After using them a few times, I found the ones that span the bridge the most effective. The little round tourques are barely different from normal decibel, so i don't use them. The larger ones take the decibels down a notch, but it's still rather loud from what i expected. It doesn't shift the resonance too much, though some notes come out sounding 'strained' compared to without the mute. It's handy for practicing, especially if you have a headache while playing the full sound. I had no issues with staining - though I don't leave the mute on when I'm not playing. Installation was super easy and not at all stiff

Great price especially for those with two violins/violas. The Tourté style mutes warm up the sound nicely, they can be wedged down onto the bridge for more muting or lightly rested on it for less (may fall off though). I didn’t hear any rattling from them so I didn’t upgrade to the Bech magnetic version. The practice mutes that cover the whole bridge are more about going easy on your own ear than letting someone sleep in the next room. You’d need a heavy metal mute for that and it still might not silence the thing enough. But to forgive your own mistakes and squeaks and not go deaf in one ear these may be a good habit. The writing on them is upside down vs your view from below the bridge though. Neither smelled bad or smudged my bridges, which can often happen with rubber mutes. Recommended!

Not for violin 🎻 it’s extremely big even for 4/4 violin. Delivery very fast and safe

The smaller rubber is bigger than the previous one I own. The bigger one is best for muting to practice at night. It works well muting the sound even on those high pitch. Great for parents too who needs some kind of peace to themselves when the beginner kid is screeching through those high notes.

I can play comfortably in my apartment now …easy set up .FYI remove it before you put your violin in the case .Your string will pop

The round mutes were impossible to get onto the violin… the rubber is stiff and it seems to be missing a couple of splits to fit it on. My daughter’s teacher even tried and was too scared of breaking the bridge due to force. How could you muck up something so simple? Such a waste of money, they are going straight in the bin.

You get what you pay for- mutes aren’t cut or shaped properly to fit violin, don’t waste your money.

I have a 4/4 violin and this mute didn’t fit, and didnt work.
