Compared to e835, which is similar, MD46 is slightly more rounded in higher frequencies (less harsh) and slightly less mud in the low end. It does not use a neodymium magnet which makes it a bit more durable. Very healthy output. It is worth spending a little extra for the original foam cover MZW-1 because it eliminates all the plosives (like magic).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can i use this for canon 60d?**
A: If that camera has an XLR input, yes. Otherwise, you will need some XLR to 1/8" adapter and possibly something to match the impedance mismatch.

**Q: Can this record audio while you are recording video on your iphone?**
A: In order to use this mic with your iphone, you would need a XLR to 1/8" high impedance adapter, and then likely some way to adjust the levels within the iphone. 
While I enjoy my MD46, I don't recommend it for use on an iphone.

**Q: what size flag works best for this mic?**
A: Little square flags and even the triangular flags seem to work fine with it.   But keep in mind the deeper the microphone flag the less the reporter or producer has To hold.  

 If it’s on a mic stand, you shouldn’t  have to worry about that.

**Q: Can it work well for podcasting as well (plugged into the computer)?**
A: The short answer is yes. But you'll need a way to power it and a way to convert its XLR to a jack that will fit into your computer. Instead, I suggest getting a mic with a USB port so you can plug it directly into your computer. For instance, this one:

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another Great all purpose Mic and it's a Long handled Cardiod which is Rare

I first owned one of these in 2005 and it was the same price even back then and later I made the mistake of letting it go as i became more aware of its history ( being originally created for NBC IN 2000 among other things) I used this in my home studio for voice over and announcing practice and now that I own a Mic preamp in my mixer the sound of the MD 46 is even better than before. you can use this in a studio as well as the field and for completely plosive free results I recommend using a foam pop filter ( thankfully I invested in a good supply of them.) It's nice to have the MD46 Mic back in my Mic Collection after a long absence
