Havahart Wireless Radial-Shape Select Dog Fence Waterproof Extra Collar

These collars do not work. I have spent hundreds of dollars on collars to have them stop shocking about a month after purchase. It beeps when it gets near the limit, but the shocking function quit. I purchased a length of wire and ran it between two trees. The dog has some room to run, but if I put it out on the collar, it will head toward the limit and once it realizes the shock doesn't work, it takes off at a full run. I am disappointed that I paid such a high price for something that doesn't work for more than 90 days. I will not buy from this company again.

They keep getting more and more expensive but at the same time, cheaper made. This is my third collar purchase from Havahart. They work beautifully and keep my dog in our yard. Certainly a cheaper solution than putting up a fence on an acre of property. However, there are times when they need to be replaced. For example, my dog loves to LEAVE the property and he knows this thing keeps him from doing that. (130 lb Great Dane/Black Lab Mix)... someone left it down and he made short work of it.... Within 6 months this collar rose from $75 to $160 but the quality dropped dramatically! The collar strap isn't as strong as the original one was, and the plastic pieces are flimsy and constantly fall out.

I ordered this as the a second replacement for my boxer's original collar. The original eventually got damaged from typical wear and tear. My dog kept leaving the boundary which I attributed to this and contact with customer support at Havahart. I bought this newer model because the original was out of warranty. With in a few months the new collar was already damaged so I contacted Havahart for a replacement. I awaited weeks for them to contact me back about my issue, and once they did I was made aware it would be a few more weeks before I could get a replacement. They made the suggestion to buy a new one and send the damaged one back when I received the new one to reduce waiting time. This was November of last year. Initially things seemed to improve, but a few months later my dog was leaving the boundary again with out any type of alert from the system. I tried moving the system to different locations in the house, and system resets frequently. My yard is completely open and free of obstructions that could block the signal. My dog consistently kept breaking the boundary and the system would never alert. On occasion it would alert when he came back. Today my dog was hit and killed by a car after 7 years of a healthy and beautiful life. I initially blame this collar and the Havart radial shape system, then I blame myself for not getting a better system or having one professionally installed. To conclude, don't buy this collar to "fix" the fact the system is not working properly. It's a bad system in general and you should find a better method of pet containment. I've used this system for years and years and gotten lucky that nothing has happened when they ran off, don't rely on this system to keep your pets safe.

I am disappointed with this product. The battery life is terrible, it might last 2 days before I need to recharge the battery. Also the way the nylon collar is attached to the device is not a good design, my dog broke the plastic clips and lost one. I used zip ties to hold the replacement I bought and one collar quit working after a couple of months, thankfully it was still under warranty. Though it is easy to set up and it alerts you when your pet gets close to the boundary, I would not purchase it again. My mom bought a petsafe wireless system and I think I'll end up buying one of those and cut my loses after the next collar quits.

Havahart seems to have changed the design of the collar within the past year, and it went from being bad to just terrible. At least the old design lasted 3/4 of a year, I've only gotten 2 months of use out of this one. The plastic clips on the collar break within a week or so, and eventually the collar just stops receiving a signal.This would be a great system if the collars held up, but replacing them every few months is a hassle. I'm hoping their warranty department is easy to work with, I'll try to add that to my review after I go through that process.

Even though I did research before purchasing this product, I was unaware that the batteries had such a short life and that replacement batteries cannot be bought locally; rather they are proprietary and must be purchased through the collar manufacturer. And that the batteries are a bit costly for such a short lifespan. Wish I'd known that prior to my purchase. It became evident just a bit too late to return it. An expensive lesson.

This Collar started to fall apart on my bloodhound after only 3 days. The weak plastic parts that attach the receiver unit to the strap are super thin and break easily. I might expect this build quality from a product that costs 1/4 the price, but not for what this thing costs. It was also really inconsistent with the transponder. Sometimes the unit would not sound a warning until the dog was 200 feet outside of the boundary! Other times it was ok. The problem is with it's inconsistency. The dog never can learn where the boundary is because this whole fence system can't figure it out either.

These are a great tool but the antenna (both sides) seem to come out and get damaged to easily. I wish they used Kevlar material to sheath them in. I'm on my third one for my Great Dane. Otherwise ok products.
