First unit was defective, replacement rock solid and very stable
**UPDATE** Replacement arrived and is working without incident. The seller also contacted me to try and make things right outside of Amazon's process, in case I was not able to get a resolution that way. As a seller, I give them 5 stars. They're committed to working with me to ensure my satisfaction, so please read the review specifically only for the device I received, not on the seller.UPDATE #2The replacement had been rock solid for almost 30 days now, always showing the display on the connected monitor, recognizing the connected USB devices and having network connectivity. The old unit may have just been a bad unit, but that's what warranties are for.UPDATE #3Added the fifth star, it's earned it. The new unit has been very stable and very reliable. It's also continued to run cooler than the original one did. I plug/unplug it from my work laptop at least once per day, more often 3-4 times. It just works, that's exactly what I wanted.ORIGINAL REVIEWBought this to use at my desk at work as a docking station for my XPS 9380. I didn't connect a charger through this or use the power pass-through. Instead, I plugging power directly into the laptop. This adaptor worked rather well if a little warm.Started using it July 24th. August 5th, it stopped working entirely, wouldn't detect on my work laptop, my 2019 MBP or even a co-worker's USB-C enabled laptop. It was dead, power wasn't even transferring through it.Sending this one and received a replacement, will see how long this one lasts. If this one fails just under 2 weeks also, going to return for a refund and find something else.

Works for the Nintendo Switch! BUT...
I love this thing but the only con is the Ethernet port. The Ethernet port, must not be compatible with the Nintendo switch or something because the lights don't even turn on when connected to an active Ethernet port. However, when a USB A to Ethernet adapter is plugged into this USB C hub then the lights on the second adapter turn on, which allows me to charge the switch while having a hardwired connection to my router/switch.

Generic drivers are unstable on Windows 10 x64
As reported by other reviewers, the NIC lights do not light up at all during use. Also, the generic drivers installed by Windows cause some kind of random crash which results in the computer being unable to recognize the device again until the computer has been restarted. I'm troubleshooting the problem, and am unsure if it is to do with power saving features turning the USB hub off, or the generic Realtek ethernet driver. I downloaded and installed a Realtek driver from Realtek's website, and will update this post if the issue persists.

NIC slams your network even while not connected to laptop
Device is nice looking and NIC, HDMI and USBs all worked, including being able to charge my phone off one of the USB slots. The NIC receptacle, while appearing to have lights (yellow and green) never light up even while the laptop is clearly communicating across the NIC.The reason for the one star is that I have discovered that the NIC generates garbage traffic that was blocking everything on the attached switch. I leave the device plugged in to a power supply, while I have the laptop with me, so the device had the network wire plugged in and the Apple charging cable. Making it easy for me to plugin the laptop when I return to the office. Well about two weeks ago (roughly one month of ownership), my NAS that was plugged into the same switch as the network cable for the device was extremely slow and non-responsive. I unplugged the NAS after reading about one user saying his was being slammed by a brute force hack. After then encountering issues on three different Windows machines (all connected to the same switch as the Device) where I had no internet I became suspicious of my switch. Then I noticed that the line coming from the device was continuously flickering. After unplugging the device, my machines all had access to the internet again, and after plugging my NAS back in, it was behaving as responsive as expected. So while I like the size and price of the device, the NIC is clearly a too cheap product and is potentially creating a network threat.Beware!

works great
I purchased it for the Ethernet socket. I use it with a cheap notebook, nuvision encite 12.5, which has a beautiful 12.5' 1440p screen.the laptop has its own usb-c adapter for hdmi and audio and it works well. The reason I want this additional adapter purchase is, I finally use the laptop as home server since the keyboard is too BAD to use. For server, I want it to be connected to router directly with Ethernet. and it does work very well.the only thing I want to complain is the price. I noticed that all usb-c adapters share "apple" feel price tags. I think it's more reasonable as 15-20? anyway it works great.

Quality Adaptor for a Great Price!
I got this adaptor for my Macbook Pro that I just got. I didn't know that they only had USB-C ports now since I just upgraded from my old Macbook and I was looking for a good adaptor for a while, but I found that most of them were very expensive. I found this adaptor and I am very pleased with how it works! I primarily use it to add an HDMI port to plug my Macbook into my TV and it works perfectly. I am very glad with my purchase, great quality for the price.

USB ports seem to be buggy, RJ45 works well.
Seems I have a defective unit that has passed the 30-day warranty but here goes.As the headline says the USB ports seem buggy as when on remote sites I use an external keyboard/ mouse via a Dell KM 714 combo and noticed that the mouse would move sluggish and erratic as well as the keyboard had typing lag and wrong keystrokes, really weird. Thought it was the USB dongle or the batteries etc., but as I swapped out the USB C adapter it works great. I bought this originally as I needed an adapter with a RJ45 for switch and network administration and the RJ45 ports works but this seems to be a bust. Still use it but only for the network port. No software can fix this unfortunately.
