Building on work in the area of wearable technology that two of us (Matthew and Stephen) had done previously, the idea for the Myo armband was born out of fundamental question: How do we connect the real and the digital worlds as we move towards wearable and ubiquitous computing? What makes your product special? "With the Myo armband, we have made advances in technology to demonstrate the possibilities of interacting with digital devices without the use of touch, voice, or cameras. Today, the Myo armband can be used as a controller for home automation and entertainment, to seamlessly replace presentation remotes, to interact with video games and heads up displays in a natural and intuitive way, as a tool for controlling robotic devices and toys, and much more." Futuristic device for a scientist!
I am giving 5 stars for the potential this device has. Myo works well for my arms and I am planning on using it mostly for presentations and during in vitro lab experiments when I am not able to use my hands freely. There are definitely different sweet spots for different users - knowing the muscle mechanics and functions, this variability is unavoidable. However, I believe that the Thalmic Labs team will be able to continue to improve their algorithms for even better gesture recognition!

It was easy to sync and get started with the Thalmic video ...
I have thought about getting Myo for a while. I finally decided to order, and it arrived less than 24 hours later! It was easy to sync and get started with the Thalmic video tutorials. I have a small arm so I use a couple of the sizing clips that came in the box, and it fits very comfortably. I've just started experimenting with Myo, but so far it is very promising. I can't wait to see more apps developed for my iPhone and iPad. Will keep checking Myo Market for new developments!

I am disappointed, frustrated
I am disappointed, frustrated, and upset! I watched the getting started videos repeatedly and had no trouble syncing the Myo. However, it has not responded to any of the gestures. I am hugely disappointed because I ordered it to wow the audience for a major presentation. It is totally useless! I contacted tech support via email as there is no phone number and they were super slow to respond and still have not offered to troubleshoot or information on returning it!!!!! The Myo and tech support in my experience was an epic failure! Until they get the kinks out and provide better tech support, buy a traditional presentation remote and save your money.

I wouldn't recommend this to the common man
It's a very forward device. It's buggy and isn't 100% accurate, but it works well. I wouldn't recommend this to the common man. Rather its for the exceptionally tech savvy.
