**Q: Is 1.8 inches correct? That would be approx 1 and 13/16". I am actually looking for 1 and 3/8.**
A: This is the narrow one that fits the older thresholds, it's 1 1/4 to the outside of the tabs. If you've been to the box stores and purchased the wide one that doesn't fit...this is the one you want.

**Q: how to install the rubber strip  having great trouble getting both sides inserted into aluminum strip. both are new and packaged together.**
A: Squeeze on both sides--tuck into track--move down length.

**Q: My current vinyl strip is 1-1/4 inches wide, and I don't know if this rubber strip will fit. Any thoughts? is this product 1.5 inches?**
A: I was concerned about the fit in the threshold, but the product is self adjusting and spreads to fill the gap

**Q: I bought a new threshold but the rubber seal is too tall.  It says its for a 5/8 gap.  Is this one a little lower??**
A: This is for a 3/4 gap.  Only fits specific thresholds.

Sooo, I went down to the local big box store to get a replacement threshold insert. They had one size, so I thought one size fits all. Nope, they do not.A picture of my old one compared to this on helped me know this was it. It took five minutes to install after prep. It appears to be a great product and fits perfectly.A few thoughts ...Preparation is everything. Clean the metal plate completely. I used a very slim screwdriver to get any gunk out of the tracks this product fits in. They need to be cleaned out. (I followed up with a box cutter.) Then the new strip will fit in as it should.Measure the width you need before you buy. They offer several widths.Write the product company name and item number on the bottom of the rubber strip with a permanent marker. It will help next time.

I used this M-D Building Products vinyl weatherstrip insert to replace a worn threshold seal on an exterior door, and it restored the seal much better than I expected. The old insert had become brittle and flattened over time, allowing drafts and small amounts of water intrusion during heavy rain. Once installed, the new insert immediately created a tighter seal against the bottom of the door.The vinyl material was flexible enough to install without excessive effort, and trimming it to the correct length was straightforward. The dimensions matched my threshold channel properly, which is important because replacement inserts can vary quite a bit depending on the threshold style. After installation, the door still opened and closed smoothly without excessive drag.What I appreciated most is that this provided an inexpensive repair instead of replacing the entire threshold assembly. For anyone dealing with worn threshold inserts causing drafts, moisture, or air leakage, this is a simple upgrade that can make a noticeable difference quickly.
