Very Informative
The author covers a lot of material in this book...a very good read\ tutorial. Steve Pacey really "Knows Cubase." Considering the scope of Cubase, this book is a must have.

OK
The book covers everything in the manual. I could have just read the manual but this book make learning Cubase 6 a much better read.

Going Pro with Cubase 6
I have bought and read this book twice now. There is still a good deal of the material that is above my head. This is definitely not a book for beginners. There is some excellent information contained in the book but unless you are familiar with Cubase 6 and have a thourogh understanding of its fundamentals this is not the book for you.

Buy Cubase 6 Power by Guerin and Williams instead
I have used Cubase's various versions over the last 20 years beginning with Cubase VST24. That being said, I had always just jumped into the software and figured out how it worked by trial and error. Honestly, this method worked well until Steinberg stopped including a printed manual. Printing out a pdf file was time consuming and ink expensive. Jumping between an Adobe screen and Cubase was a hassle. Quite frankly, I used what I could figure out from use of previous versions of Cubase and ignored the rest. With the purchase of Cubase 6 I could no longer ignore some of the advertised new features.I bought this book with the hope that I would be able to quickly add to my existing knowledge of Cubase. Additionally, I bought Cubase 6 Power by Guerin and Williams. If you can only buy of the two books buy Cubase Power 6 instead. Pearcy's book claims to be more advanced than Cubase 6 Power. However, I found that Cubase 6 Power is comprehensive; covering advanced as well as intermediate. Pearcy's book fails in one major department; steinberg terminology. In Cubase Power 6, Guerin explains some of Steinberg's terminology. This is important because it helps in using Steinberg's manual. The section in Pearcy's book on organizing the media bay was just a complete waste in my opinion. Anyone who has used a computer for more than a few years knows they should organize file folders with like material. It is really common knowledge. A whole chapter on the Cubase's media bay? Really? The other pitfall in Pearcy's book is that it spends too much time on Steinberg's hardware products. It amounts to about a dozen pages describing the advantages, setup, and use of Steinberg's hardware. Those pages could be put to better use discussing the use of the Arranger Track or more information concerning the use of the tempo tools. Overall the book was a bit of a disappointment.Overall the book is somewhat useful but in comparison to Cubase 6 Power.... My advice is to just buy Cubase 6 Power and skip the purchase of Going Pro.

Steve Pacey Shows you how it's done!
When it comes to "going pro" with Cubase 6 there could be no better author than Steve Pacey. As a producer, I have worked with Steve for nearly 20 years. I remember when he first got cubase, way back in the day when it came loaded up on an atari computer!Steve has composed numerous projects for me over the years and I always ask him why he doesn't use Pro-Tools since it seems to be such an industry standard. He not only composes within Cubase, but he delivers FINAL MIXES that have been done in CUBASE. He doesn't even bother using a mixing console. Everything is done right in CUBASE.As I read the book, I realized what a treat this must be for CUBASE users. I don't think any other technical author knows their software near as well as Mr. Pacey....perhaps with the exception of Matt Piper who writes for reason...and is an amazing composer and writer as well.If you really want to learn how to get the most out of CUBASE 6, then this book is the ONLY way you are gonna get it, shy of calling Mr. Pacey and paying him for private lessons, which, considering what he gets paid to compose for film and television, that would be a very high price tag!If you are on the fence about what software to use for your professional recordings, please read this book! If you do, I'm sure you will agree that CUBASE 6 is loaded with some amazing tools for the working professional. As a music hobbyist, a was leaning towards LOGIC since I'm such a mac guy. But after seeing the power and versatility that Steve carefully shows you in Going Pro With CUBASE 6, I sold my LOGIC software on Ebay and am now using cubase! (Apparently Logic tried to steal a lot of tricks from CUBASE) I figure...better to have the pioneer than the wanna be.After reading this book and then working on CUBASE 6 I do have a pretty big gripe. Steinberger really needs to step up its marketing push for this product. If everyone would utilize this software for professional purposes the way Mr. Pacey does, it would seriously bring down production costs for film and television projects. The ability to compose and mix with this powerful program hasn't been shared throughout the entertainment industry nearly as much as it could be. Thanks to COURSE TECHNOLOGY and Steve Pacey, CUBASE 6 is being used more than ever before in studios all over Hollywood. I do wish Course Technology would spend more time on their book covers though. It's almost as if they consulted with Steinberger's crack team of marketing mavens. Guys...people really do judge books by their covers!Anyway....Great job Steve! This book is so well written, that I might have CUBASE down well enough to do all the music myself on my next TV project instead of hiring you! ha ha.Houston CurtisCEOBig Vision Entertainment

GREAT FOLLOW-UP BOOK
I recently upgraded to Cubase 6 and found this book very helpful as I did with Mr Paceys previous book Your Cubase Studio. Going Pro with Cubase 6 provided me with many solutions to the new features in Cubase 6.
