In this uncertain world, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his band of survivors must not only fight the dead, but also face a whole new fear: the living. In this 16 episode season, the series Entertainment Weekly called the “greatest thriller ever produced for television”, Rick and his fellow survivors continue to seek refuge in a desolate and post-apocalyptic world and soon discover that there are greater forces to fear than just the walking dead. The struggle to survive has never been so perilous. This season also introduces new characters, including the Governor (David Morrissey) and fan-favorite Michonne (Danai Gurira), along with her zombie pets. Review: Best TV series and Zombie genre films ever! - I came to The Walking Dead late - as in, only a month ago. Since then, my son and I watched the first two series on Netflix, then ordered the third season on Blu-Ray via desertcart since it isn't available on Netflix yet. What can I say about this series? It's pretty much pitch perfect, IMO. I have watched pretty much every Romero "Living Dead" movie, every Resident Evil movie, and played many video games that feature the zombie apocalypse or some variation thereof. This series draws from each of those (my son and I had fun during the first season, pointing out the inspiration for certain scenes, set pieces and motifs), but it really takes the genre into new territory. I'm only up to episode 4 of season 3 so far, but every episode since the first one of the first season has moved the plot forward, developed the relationship between the characters, and taken a new twist on the zombie apocalypse idea that makes you both squirm and applaud the writers. Every actor so far seems believable and true to their character. But the characters are not static - they change in believable ways as the story line moves forward. The young boy, for instance, who seemed rather annoying for a while, seems to be growing into a strong, hardened force of his own in a manner similar to the development of Anakin Skywalker - hopefully he'll turn out better, but either way it makes for engaging viewing. Every other character gets their chance to add something to the story as well. The effects are terrific and modern, without looking particularly CGI (with the exception of one building explosion in Season 2). It takes a lot for me to become emotionally invested in a horror film, having seen hundreds since the 1970's, but this series has me on the edge of my seat nearly every episode. Can't wait to finish season 3 and see what they come up with for season 4. So far, IMO, this project is a genuine masterpiece on both a dramatic level and a horror/action level. Review: It Just Keeps Getting Better - I've been watching the Walking Dead since it first came out and have really become a great fan of the series. What sounds like a run of the mill zombie movie turns out to be a show focused on human drama. While there is plenty of gore what really sets this show apart from most any zombie movies in the past is that you really get to know the characters and feel for them. Which brings me to Season 3! The first season was pretty exciting, the second season was fun but somewhat dull at times, this season brought a whole new load of trouble and development into the show. I don't want to post any spoilers but it was definitely an intense season. One of the funnest parts for me was going from liking the Governor at first to hating him and eventually really loving his character and development. I don't know how such a man became one of my favorite characters in the show. This limited edition box set featuring the Governor's floating zombie head fishtanks was more than enough to make me empty my wallet. The quality is really good and feels very solid. The outer shell is plastic but looks like an old piece of 90s wooden furniture. Which definitely fits the fill of the Governor's lair in the show. The fish tanks feel and look as if they could be used for actual fish. The zombie heads inside are very nice quality as well, they feel like some sort of ceramic material, but are very detailed and well made. The only real complaint is that the lights don't look nearly as awesome as they do in the picture. Maybe if I filled them with water it would have that effect...But I don't want to risk damaging the ceramic heads, the box, the blu-ray disks, and the shelf with all my other movies on it. Overall it is an awesome limited edition set. If you're a fan of the Governor's terror and character I'd say this set will make you extremely happy. If you're not really a huge fan of the Governor maybe it's not for you.

the walking dead limited edition series 3 blu ray
ordered this from amazon in july, had to pay custom charges on this like on the other series 1/and 2 that i bought as well, however it arrived on saturday, via an extra cost to me. Anyway, on to the review, the box it's self is smaller than the series 2 rv zombie head version, it has great artwork on the box. The fish tank is pretty good as a visual piece, the zombie heads are quite large to the tank, they appear to be about the same size as the large 12 inch gi joe figures, an sport various sides of decay, overall it is quite a nice piece, a neat feture is the light up feature, with the hidden button on the front. one thing though the season 3 case will fit in the back of the tank but is a little tight when you want to remove it. The blu ray case has a nice soft feel to it, and is also plenty of character shots both inside and out of it. You also get the mannual for the fishtank, ie on/off button and battery info, the booklet has lots of cool details of future walking dead items from avatar items to card games. Overall i'm am very pleased with this style and package, not so with the custom charge, however i have watched and enjoyed both series 1/2 and currently watching series 3. Though limited and expensive, fans of the series will like or at least enjoy this edition. over the standard editions. this is a great series, and will cotinue to watch, and buy series 4, whatever variant that is as and when. whichever version you go for, this is a great series, as you feel for the characters, rick, with the loss of his wife and looking after the group, and the threats from the governor, and both human and constant zombie threats, in each episode, which leaves you wanting to know what will happen next, episode by episode, season by season, and ultimatley how will it end, and where will the story go, and what will happen to them, in the future?

Great investment and sure conversation piece. ;-)>
I have always been a huge fan of the show so when they started coming out with the Limited Editions for the different seasons Blu-Ray sets I was stoked. The 2nd season Head Blu-Ray case is awesome so I never though that they would top it. Well, They did. The Governor's Fish tank set is just AWESOME!!! IT IS VERY WELL BUILT AND DETAILED TO THE MAX!! I couldn't believe how detailed the floating heads would be not to mention that it actually holds water and is lit up so you can admire it at night while watching your favorite show in True High Quality picture and sound. I don't know what they have in mind for the Season 4 L.E. set but they really outdid themselves with Season 2 and Season 3s set. I just wish that they would have made something better for Season 1s set besides a mask. I just bought the regular Blu-Ray set for Season 1. I can't wait until October 13th 2013. I will be celebrating my birthday watching the 1st episode of Season 4 that night. Thank you for creating the most interesting, awesome Season 3 set. I believe it is worth every penny spent. I have a BITCHIN set to display with my Zombie Head that are both great conversation starters. If you haven't bought this Bad Boy yet I suggest that you do before they are sold out and then you will have to pay 2x-3x the price on Ebay to get it and fill somebody else's pockets with some extra cash. I do have a 2nd Fish tank set just to hold onto just because. I want this Bad Boy to last a lifetime. ;-)>

Review for The Walking Dead: Season 3
Hubby and I loved season 1 of this show, and got season 2 on pre-order. While Hubby liked season two, I really started not liking it, and I figured season 3 would be more of the same. However, since Hubby loves it, I bought season 3 for Christmas for him. Season three is far better written than season two, in my opinion. It is much easier to get involved in the story, and the loss and introduction of characters is great. There are so many changes to the characters, you can really see them evolve and grow, not just from their battles with the zombies, but from their back stories and how they must live in this new environment. The introduction of the new "villain" (hint/spoiler, it's not the zombies!) is very well done. There's also an introduction to a fantastically acted character who kicks butt, who survives on her own. How she made it, how she's become who she is, isn't fully given, yet, and I am excited about the possibilities with that character. I don't want to put any spoilers in this review, because I'm sure there's folks like me who wait for shows to come out on DVD before watching them. So, here's the basic summary: If you enjoyed season one, you'll probably enjoy season three as it's a meaningful progression of the story and character arcs. If you hated season 2 (like I did), then I'd still recommend giving season 3 a try, even if you do it through rental first. In the meantime, I cannot wait for season 4!!! Excluding season two, this is a well done story and I have enjoyed watching the characters find who they are in their "present" world, knowing there's no going back to the way it was before. . . or is there? :-)

The Walking Dead Season 3... Finally move from farm to Prison! Action!
I did get a bit frustrated with the slowed pace in character's and plotline while on Hershel's farm. Almost the entire 2nd Season had action, (if much) come to the farm. Were it not for the fruitless search for Sophia, nobody had much reason to venture out. Besides the runs to the pharmacy, (why not raid the entire pharmacy all in one big raid?), there was little Action! It became more of the "love triangle drama" more than it's namesake. I held out hope. Reading the graphic novel, I knew of much more to come. And the Season finale was a jaw dropper! After Rick declares that "this isn't a democracy anymore", low and behold, the prison looms just over the horizon. Yeah! Action again! Of course taking the prison will not be easy. Besides the Walkers that surround the prison, within the gates and out, they must contend with whomever might still be lurking inside. Just when you think how else can a Walker be fought off, they show up as prison guards in riot gear. Can't get the head through a helmet. Yet this amazing ensemble cast has come together in ways that have their wits make up for lack of numbers. Fabulous casting places these "survivors" in situations, making choices and doing deeds they could never have accomplished in the 1st Season! Outstanding teamwork and artful thinking gets them through step-by-step. It was a real tear jerker when Carl had to step up and shot Lori after child birth. He knew the alternative and at that moment, we see a boy grow into manhood. In the worst possible way! Cut to Woodbury. A quaint little town of ignorant people. Living as though THEIR world has not changed. Leave that to "The Governor." A man whose head belongs inside one of his many fishtanks of heads! He is utterly ruthless, maniacal, certifiably crazy and absolutely okay with it. As long as the town folk follow his commands, he is a God unto himself. He would have a statue of himself in the center of town were it feasible. The complete polar opposite of Rick. In every way! And as soon as The Gov learns of Rick and his group, no matter how small in headcount, he feels threatened. For good reason! All through Season 3, we see the most bloodshed and violence. The Walkers have a greater role. More of them. Not as easily drawn away by some diversion. No. They are here to stay! The Gov uses them to his advantage as well as sport. Target practice and throwing the first volley. As this Season progresses, the growing tension between The Gov and Rick leads to more than one showdown. But isn't this a reflection of real life? The tough guy's who make loud noises tend to do so over and over again? And when they don't get their petty ways, they ready for war? Eventually, Rick decides to NOT decide for the group anymore. "I'm not you're Governor." And it is the groups decision to stay and do final battle with The Gov and his merry band of idiots. In the end, the prison stays with the occupants that took it in the beginning of the season. Yet compassionate enough to take in the remnants of souls that were NOT SHOT by the Gov as he fled like a spoiled kid... With a big gun. This is what makes The Walking Dead work so well. Its not always so much about the Walkers or the gore. It's also about the hope and compassion, the sentimentality of the few living people left. That drive to keep pushing on. Sure, we know from Dr. Edwin Jenner that EVERYONE has this thing that makes EVERYBODY into Walkers as soon as they die, no matter what. But does this mean they should all lay down and put a bullet into each others heads? Of course not! Jenner was ONE point of view. Maybe another Dr. In some secluded lab has another theory? Just a thought, on the show, "Lost In Space." They knew they were never getting home. Did that mean they might as well settle on some deserted planet or crash into a sun? No! People must drive on to find a better way for a better day. Judith is the newest member of the cast. It means babies can be born! Start over! Find a safer haven and rebuild. This is life...

Awesome Main Characters
This series is great and there's no doubt a few episodes in this season are among the best in the series. But forgive me for saying this, S3's writing, directing, and acting all take a hit. With it's original show-runner's departure, Season 3 suffers from poor acting in the first few episodes, a terrible pregnant stomach, and the good guys not being all that likeable. The show's main villain, The Governor (played brilliantly by David Morrissey) comes out more likeable and realistic than any of the characters you are used to seeing from previous seasons. Andrew Lincoln, however, is superb once again as Rick Grimes, the show's protagonist, and should probably win an Emmy, or at least be up for the award. He's simply spellbinding as a man transformed from the conscientious leader to a ruthless protector, twisted from various traumas. You see up close and personal what a zombie-apocalypse does to the human soul with Rick and The Governor going head to head, trying to hang on to humanity while surviving and protecting those they care about at the same time. Morrissey, if possible, is just as good, or better than Lincoln as The Governor. But once again, the show suffers from acting in the beginning, and gets better as the season goes on. There are a few times where the "good guys" are simply idiotic and you want them to get what's coming to them. As you learn, it's not necessarily about good and evil, as it is about lengths one will go to live. This season isn't as much about deaths and zombies (although there's plenty), as it is about human transformation and mental stability. Best Episodes: 03 "Walk with Me", 08 - "Made to Suffer", 13 - "Arrow on the Doorpost" Unfortunately, the last few episodes are good, but not great, which is why this season isn't as good as the previous two, but still better than mostly anything else on television.

"Walkers" may not be as deadly as surviving humans....
Anyone considering buying this set of DVDs already knows all about the Zombie Apocalypse and it's aftermath that is the heart of this exceptional television series from AMC. And he or she is already leaning toward purchase or they would not be reading this review. I make no attempt to tell the story to the uninitiated. Watch the first season episodes to see if you are "into" Walkers or not. What I will say that this series is one of the most intense and provocative on TV, and worth your consideration. Each season has gotten better and has drawn followers more deeply into the plight of all involved. This third season set is full of mind wrenching situations and problems that humans must somehow solve without losing their own humanity in the process....not all people we meet succeed in doing this...and some who were considered lost souls regain their humanity and dignity in surprising twists of plot. You followers of the series understand me...the rest of you....join us! You won't be disappointed...but you've been warned! Purchase from Amazon was totally satisfying, as usual. Packaging is top shelf. Service totally satisfying.

Great show and stunning box set.
The Walking Dead is one of my favourite show on television right now. Sure, the second season meandered for a bit, but when the action and drama picks up it's nothing short of genius. Season 3, on the other hand, is absolutely amazing. Through the introduction of The Governor, Rick and crew face what could be their worst nightmare yet - and the resulting conflict is great. The acting is top notch, and the writing hits some very emotional moments that no doubt make it worth the price of admission. Similarly, the limited edition display case that the season box set comes in is perhaps one of the coolest and best designed special edition collectibles I've ever seen. I can't say I'm surprised though, since it's designed by MacFarlane toys, who do incredible work. The limited edition case (made to look like The Governor's fish tank of zombie heads seen in the season) makes a great addition to any collector's shelf, and is perhaps one of my favourite limited editions I've purchased to date. Highly, highly recommended.

TWD - Stagione 03 (4 Blu-Ray)
Spedizione sempre puntuale. Consigliatissimo a tutti.

Behind the walls
A five disc dvd box set which contains all sixteen forty minute long episodes of season three of the Walking Dead. A story of people trying to survive after the world is overrun by zombies. There are four episodes to each of the first four discs. The fifth contains various extras. Although this season might work reasonably well as a jumping on point, there's a fair bit of backstory by now, so you're better off starting with season one. As with the first two seasons, It follows the comic on which it is based somewhat loosely, taking characters and storylines from it, but going a different path with many of them. The season opener picks up months after the end of the last one. Rick and his group are on the road, and running out of options. When they spy a prison. A place with walls and fences like that would appear to offer perfect sanctuary. Meantime, Andrea and her new friend Michonne, whom she met briefly at the end of season two, have also been on the road for months. They stumble across seeming safe haven as well. A town called Woodbury. A seemingly normal place. Run by a charismatic man called the Governor. Can they all now relax? Or will they find that some humans can be bigger monsters than any zombie? This does try to address the criticisms of season two. Anyone who thought they didn't see enough zombies in that one will be satisfied this time around. As there are plenty of undead encounters. As before, the makeup and costume department do a great job of making them each look different. The pacing of the first eight episodes does go very nicely, mixing character drama with zombie action, and steadily building a certain threat. The characters aren't invincible. A fact which leads to some powerful bits of drama you won't forget in a hurry. David Morrissey delivers an incredible performance as the Governor. A man who, in case you haven't read the comic, let's just say has a lot going on under the surface. Although there are plenty of zombies, the Walking Dead has always been a character drama first and foremost. It does that again here. It's all about the way Rick changes as a person as a result of the moral dilemmas and choices that trying to survive in this strange new world forces on him. Which does push him very hard here. Andrew Lincoln again makes a great lead. Tv drama can, if episodic, often just brush off and forget things as shows move on. But that isn't the case here. The things Rick goes through have an effect on him that is very convincingly portrayed. Other characters do develop superbly. Michonne, a fan favourite the comics, does that very well over the course of the season. The second half of the season is a bit of a slow burner, as it leaves a big threat slowly developing whilst individual episodes deal with individual issues. Although they do tie up one loose end that has been hanging for a while. But there are moments in this batch that are downright disturbing and memorable and that you won't forget in a hurry. The finale doesn't quite have the budget to be as epic as you might expect it to be, but it does what it needs to do. Completing character arcs nicely. And setting up a slightly different status quo for year four. This is quality tv character drama. With great acting. And zombies every so often. Even if the latter isn't really your thing, the quality of the former makes this a show worth getting hooked on. The dvd has the following language and subtitle options: Languages: English. Subtitles; English. Five of the sixteen episodes do have commentaries. The extras on disc five are as follows: Deleted scenes: not quite as many of these as on season two. Just six. One each from different episodes. They all run no longer than three minutes. And can only be watched individually. But there are some very good character moments amongst them, so they are all worth a watch. Featurettes: All of these run from four to nine minutes. And can also only be watched individually. Rising Son. All about Carl and the actor who plays him. Evil eye. All about the governor. These two are general promotional pieces, but decent enough viewing. Gone, but not forgotten. All about a big event that happens in one episode. This one will stay with you for a little while, so it's worth a watch. Heart of a warrior. All about Michonne and her character arc over the season. There are some very good interviewees in this one, in particular the lady who plays her, so it's good viewing. Michonne v the Governor. An involving look at a certain set piece from one episode and how it was done. Safety behind bars. A very interesting look at how the prison set was built. Making the dead. All about the aforementioned excellent makeup and costume work on the zombies. Guts and Glory. About characters who weren't invincible. A memorable watch.

Endlich was realistisches
