Beautiful photos of a beautiful place!
This is a wonderful video--very professionally done (the best of 20 years of filming) and it showcases some of the most beautiful and interesting places in Oregon. Obviously, not everything is covered, but what is here is done with some depth and uses many local residents to help the viewer to experience the area with the people who live and work here. The emphasis is on the amazing scenery. I have played this video over and over, and never tire of it. I lived in Oregon for my first 12 years, and have returned many times since. The mountains, crystal-clear rivers, prairies, and wildlife are just part of what is depicted here. I'm grateful to those who made this video--it is like a trip back to this beautiful place where God's Creation can still be quietly observed and appreciated.

America In a Nutshell
Perhaps the best in this series at showing you a slice of regional American life, this dvd presents the amazing diversity of the beautiful state of Oregon. From pastoral farmland to snowcapped mountains, from waterfall-graced primeval forests to sweeping desert-like terrain, from clear-blue lakes to sparkling rivers, from vineyard country to the Pacific coast sunsets, Oregon has just about everything. Fascinating wildlife, exciting outdoor adventures (including sand-surfing), and input from genuine local residents--this program covers such a broad array of elements. I feel like I've taken a trip around the entire state in eighty minutes. (I'm from the East Coast and haven't yet visited the Pacific Northwest.) Oregon Splendor is a very enjoyable, educational, and value-packed purchase for the armchair traveler, trip planner, or anyone who wants to know more about this lovely state. Lots of substance to this dvd. I highly recommend it.

Nice for Nature Photos
This special was produced by Oregon Public Broadcasting for PBS. It's a series of nature footage shot around Oregon in no particular order. It's NOT a travel-log of what Oregon has to offer. There is no narration; mostly music with beautiful scenes of some of Oregon's great outdoors. It does show the occasional requisite shots of Crater Lake, Mt. Hood, and Haceta Head Lighthouse, but most of this video is of sweeping vistas of mountains and plains. There is a lot of wind noise in the soundtrack making Oregon seem like a windswept, desolate state. SOME of the footage is crystal clear, but there is a fair amount of footage that is so unclear that it looks like it was filmed with a consumer type camcorder. Lots of pixilation in certain shots. I would have expected better quality from PBS. It was fun to watch once, but I don't think I would send it to any of my out of state friends to entice them to come visit. A better video would be the one called " Oregon State of Wonder -DVD ".

This DVD had beautiful scenes for every corner of Oregon
This DVD had beautiful scenes for every corner of Oregon. I would have preferred less time spent on herding sheep, driving cattle, white water rafting, and kayaking but that is strictly personal preference. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a calm, scenic filled DVD of Oregon.

Such a beautiful state
I love this video. It shows the beauty of our great state. The sounds of nature accompanying this video are all that are needed and they let the different counties speak for themselves. I loaned this video to another couple with two young children and they couldn't believe how they sat right down and watched the entire video with rapt attention. Its a video for all ages.

Would love to see this in Blue Ray quality
While not HD resolution, this is the well done state wide OPB Field Guide tour. Would love to see this in Blue Ray quality.
