Personally, I have found many wooden utensiles to be a little bulky and their limited range of shapes to be more inefficient when compared to their metal cousins. This one feels pretty good and more useful.It has a slight curve in the handle, which allows it to feel more maneuverable in your hand. The surface is nice and smooth, letting you quickly slide your hand up and down the long length, which gives you lots of positions to change the pressure and leverage you apply to your efforts. They took an extra minute to drill a hole at the top of the handle (so you can hang it), which I've noticed that some wooden utensiles seem to have missing.I think what I like the most is the shape of the flat end. It's wide and deep enough to hold and flip most foods such as hamburgers; thin and smooth enough to slide under them quickly; and curved at the edges just slightly enough to help keep the food from falling off the sides. (Also, the curved edges also allow this spatula to act a little like a spoon for none-liquid items.)Of course, because it's made of wood, it won't scratch the inside of your pots and pans. And while it looks a bit thin and frail, it didn't feel that way when I used it.

While i admit it is usually hard to get excited about a cooking utensil, I really do love this spatula. As others have mentioned, the 15.5 inch length is great for keeping hand back from splashing fluids, from boiling water or popping grease.Because the edge actually has a little bit of a cup to it also it works well as a bit of serving spoon.I have used this for grilling, as well as making my chicken corn soup in a large pot, and it cleans well by hand every time.I will be looking into more products from Haiwa.This was provided to me to sample and write an honest review. MY ratings never remotely consider that factor, I rely to much on reviews from time to time when buying products to give something a positive rating because its free. However I do consider the list price on amazon for some items to keep it all in context. I received this handmade wooden spatula days ago, and i have to say is very iseful, mainly when im using it in big pots to make spaghetti, soup or even just mix tea. The fact the is very long gives me the availability of my burning my hand when something the food or oild start jumping because of the the hot it is. It is made of a very good quality, it hasnt chipped or crack and that makes me feel safe, not wondering if they will ever be a piece of wood in the food, compared to the plastic spatulas that start melting and sometimes leaving residue on the food. Easy to grip on, had no problem grabbing or using it, very glad i have it, and i recommend it if you cook alot.

I have been using this spatula a lot lately, mainly because it takes the place of 2 items - a spoon and a spatula. It does the job of a spatula by scraping the bottom of the pan but it can also pick up sauce and gravy with it. It has a nice long handle. It is strong and sturdy. The design would fit in with any kitchen especially a more rustic, farmhouse kitchen like mine. It is great for making spaghetti sauce and chili since you can stir a lot at one time and then use it as a tasting spoon without putting it down to grab another utensil. This is a very nice quality wooden spoon. The wood work has been done well, and the seal on the wood is quality. We have been using these on a daily basis, and the spoon has held up well. The size is nice in a medium and large sauce pan.I will recommend this to friends and family

This is the best wooden spatula I have ever owned. It is made from quality wood and is durable. It does not scratch my cookware and the length is perfect. I find it is the spoon I reach for every-time. I might as well discard all my other wooden spoons because I never use them now..
