Great for added safety
My only complaint is the light simply snaps into the base. My dog knocked his off running around through the brush at dusk before we had turned the light on. I added some tape to help keep the new one from popping lose. I have had these lights for several years and this is the first time I lost one. Usually you would have the light on so you would notice if it fell off the collar. The light makes it easy to keep track of your dog in the dark. The reflective collar is a great addition for added safety. The dogs having lights on there collar helps you when walking to brighten up the trail. This light does not light up a huge area, but it does help by lighting up the general area around you and the dog. I am very happy with having a dog light that is durable and uses regular batteries. The light is not waterproof or extremely rugged, but it works for normal hikes even in the rain.

Buyer Beware!
Disappointing! After reading the reviews, I actually put a rubber band around the light casing so the case wouldn't break apart. Alas, after one gambol in the snow for my 58 lbs pup, the case still broke open and half the case and batteries plus rubber band are gone! I will have to wait for the snow to melt. The case is probably made in China and very shoddy. Concep is great and the light was great, but it failed in less than two weeks of purchase. Very sad. Now I am trying to figure out how to return it.

It is useful and I am happy to have bought it but....
There are a couple of problems with the design. My unit had some problems with the battery contacts. One set was too loose and one was way too tight. I could barely get one battery in at all, and one battery to stay in and touch the contacts at all. A pair of needle nose pliers performed some repair work, but the contacts are too stiff to make much headway there. The other problem with the case is that mine does not close all the way. I suspect that this may be because the previously mentioned battery contacts are all just a smidge too tall. A little work with some snippers may help here, but I do not currently feel like doing any more work on the unit. Until I do, there is no way this is water resistant. Also, my dog is a lab, greyhound, something mix. About 60 pounds. I have the collar adjusted as small as it will go, and it is just a little too darn large. If I remove the extension, it will be way too small. I have a sewing machine, so I may do a little surgery on the collar to shorten it up about one to one and a half inches.Apart from the above issues, I am actually really happy with this purchase. My dog is thirteen, and is blind from diabetic cataracts. He often seems to still see occasionally with enough light, and this collar really seemed to make a difference for him with his nighttime potty break tonight. He seemed much happier and more secure about going out and with where he was going. He readily went farther away from the house on his own. So, this gets only one star knocked off for the few flaws. I think this is a very useful purchased for the older doggies especially! And yes, it is bright. Our back yard is an acre and there is certainly no problem seeing this light all the way in the back.

Excellent for You and Your Dog's Safety at Night!
I have used "PupLight" for walking/playing with my dogs at night for several years. Although my older, beloved dog has passed, I just replaced our younger dog's light with PupLight2. It is fantastic! With this newer version, there is a larger, brighter field of vision/light and my Lab definitely takes advantage of it to see. We can play a great game of fetch at night and she never loses her ball. The light is super bright and you do not lose track of your dog. The reflective collar is so good - excellent - and allows you to see your dog even better. Everyone else can see her also - with the collar and the PupLight2 they would have to be blind not see her. When you walk your dog at night, just equip him/her with PupLight2, take a flashlight for yourself and be very careful, but cars will definitely see you. I highly recommend if you take your dog out at night.

Battery cover comes off easily and the collar is either too big or too small for my dog. Really bright light though.

Great illumination-Maiden Voyage Failed
This light looked as though it was going to work great to illuminate the path for my 65 lb. black lab, and allow me to track his whereabouts nicely during night hikes. The first night we were to put the light to test, the I placed the collar (with light) around his head. It was ever so slightly loose but it was stationary and in place much like a pendant around one's neck would hang. Since it was light when we started out, I did not turn the light on until our path was playing tricks on our eyes. When I called my dog to switch the light on...... it was not on his neck.....just the collar. The apparatus with the light and batteries had dropped off somewhere at the base of Mount Wachusett.I called Amazon when I got home from our hike and the customer service representative said that he could not replace it for gratis but told me that when I placed an order for a new one he could refund the price for that one and upgrade my shipping for an overnight delivery. I'm happy with that.I do think I will look to secure the new light to it's collar apparatus with some sort of reinforcement, like duct tape or some such thing. Overall, Amazon Customer Service was extremely accommodating.

Recommend for Night Walkers
The Puplight2 does not throw off the amount of light it claims but it is a bright light and cars can see it from a distance. I was looking for a light that was not cheap and would ensure oncoming cars would see us during nightly walks. The PupLight provided what I was looking for in a light. It took my dog a couple of uses before he was use to seeing a light in front of him, at first he just stood in place trying to figure out what the light was under his nose (it was funny).
