Amazing for long overnights
This little gizmo has been a life saver since I have been on night shift. The first week I thought it would burst into flames on my toolbox as it gave off an awful plastic burning smell. Would recommend running it with just water 3 or 4 times as a break in period. After the first few days this thing has run like a champ. I work nights so there are no real options for warm food that are not McDonalds or Taco Bell. With this thing I have put together meals that will set well in the fridge and can be heated and eaten nice and warm. Beef stew with some steamed veggies has been my go to. I have also done steak strips with broccoli and rice, Steamed buns, pierogis, chicken masala, and dozens of other meals that do not microwave well, but can get a little water on them and still taste great. The steam cooker is awesome. The only thing I wish could be added is a recipe guide so it wasnt a guess on which foods would turn out well when steamed.Updated Review. Lost the middle bowl on the tray after moving into a new house. 2.5 years on this little champ is still steaming eggs and creating delicious meals on the job site. I would add that for a while I was in an office setting, the lack of a longer power cord could be pretty inhibitive. My only plug left it to close to my monitor and that was worrisome. Back in the shop with power tool outlets every 4 feet on my work bench makes this a non-issue.

Bring extra accessories
I grew up in a Japanese household eattibg rice with most of my meals and carrying food around in traditional bento boxes. I hate using a microwave, unfortunately it's my only option for heating things up at work. I was extremely excited when I learned about these electric bento boxes. Today I used mine for the first time and here's my honest review. I packed Nishiki sushi grade rice in a zip lock and brought a pack of Ramen with the seasoning and sauce packs. My first dilema was in an office environment without an outlet on the wall counter height like in a kitchen. I found the 3 foot cord too short to plug in to anything in my office. There are roughly 19 outlets in my office and the best I could do was put a box on the floor and plug the bento box in with a floor outlet. Second there was no measuring cup, so I had to bring one from home. Another thing that needs to be packed. 3rd is the steam gets very hot good for cooking, not so good on the skin. I found it hard unbuckling the compartments to check on my food without getting burned by the steam. I had to make make shift pot holders to pick up the bowels. Another thing that should probably be carried. It's probably ly better to set your rice up to cook about 15 to 20 min before your Ramen it gets soggy. I used the round Ramen that fits in the bowel nicely, problem is all the seasoning has to be put under. There's a little learning curve here, my first attempt and my food. Are out ok. You'll probably want to bring some extra accessories, like an extension cord, pot holders, measuring cups, and rice spatula. All the sudden it feels like I'm packing more of my kitchen then I intended.

Amazing (for real read my review)
Okay, I didn't really think this was going to work at first and no one I know had ever heard of a "self cooking lunchbox" - but I ordered it. I have used it every day since (at work). It is like a little crock-pot with several compartments. I plug it in at work and about 30 minutes later I have a meal. It is easy to clean - putting together at first was a bit complicated because I am not great at figuring out directions but you can configure this little cooker any way you like. There are 3 compartments - I use the bottom for rice/beans/soup and then there is a little smaller bowl that I have been putting green beans in and then in the top bowl I have been putting in marinated chicken strips (cut small - like chicken fingers) or marinated beef (sliced smaller) and it is amazing! I figured out today that if the top portion still needs to cook more (say the meat) that you simply move the other smaller dishes out and cover them to stay warm, add a bit more water to the cooking base and it will continue steaming. Always unplug when done.I would rate this 5 stars literally - it is like having a little kitchen in my dumb cubicle (22 years working in cubicles). Takes more preparation in the morning - putting meat, veggies, rice (I made spaghetti too) but so worth it - I figure I will have saved money by the end of the month with NO going out to subway or other fast food places. I am enjoying it. Great product and I have been spreading the word so folks may be making purchases soon.Thank you!Karis LawsonI’m at work and I just made a really good looking lunch and I just felt like updating my review this is still working very very well and I’m very happy with my purchaseAdded in September: I still very much love this product - using every day. Now I have Chicken Satay, Chicken Marsalla, portatoes, pot stickers, spaghetti, little cubed steak - always veggies like beans and broccoli. Soup and noodles - it is fantastic and EASY to clean. GREAT purchase

Highly disappointed.
Highly disappointed in this product. Also disappointed with the company. It came damaged. It never worked. I returned it but had to pay for shipping. It cost $10 to return. They refunded me only for the product and not the shipping. They should’ve refunded for the shipping.

Good little product. Would buy again
Nice little product. Was shocked On how it cooked so easy n fast. Cooked raw rice and a Turkey burger and steamed heated beans and it worked. Down side if it’s for an office desk when u open it after it cooks be careful a little water comes out Because it appears to steam cook foods. Shuts off automatically when the the water is all done. Other than that very impressive. It does what I expect it to do. Cook some healthy food. Got my order very fast. No issues.

Great for lunches at work
Made this Japanese curry at work. Tasted great. I have also cooked eggs and they were the best hard boiled eggs I've ever had.edit: I have been making my lunches at work since buying this. It makes so much food that I can share with my coworkers! I even get requests from some, asking if I can make them some rice for lunch. It takes at max 30 minutes to cook and you can leave it and come back and walla its finished. I have added some more pictures of things Ive cooked.
