Is the stop block thing removable if you are sanding a a larger item?

I have an older model, so if Rigid hasn't redesigned it, the stop block is removable.

WHAT IS THE TABLE MADE OF THANKS TOMV

The table is made of some lightweight alloy (it's not plastic). It holds up well and is not prone to scratching. Mine has never chipped and is in the same shape as the day I bought it. I used the tool quite a bit. I hope this helps.

Anyone use this with metal and knows how it holds up?

Had an earlier model for years and sanded wood, glass, and sharpened metal with it. (ie. wood chisels & knives) the idealer end finally wore out and I purchased this model. Hard to answer that question. If it will be small amounts of removal it will mosy likely be fine if you are grinding an inch off of a six foot 4 inch wide leaf spring I'd switch to a grinder or cutting torch.
