Sour, mixed notes. Not a clean sound.
I had been looking at many of the tongue drums in this price range for a good while. I decided on this one because I liked the sound of the F Key better than the Major C most of this size and type are in. The video by one reviewer had a pleasant enough sound that I figured this was a good buy. I was wrong. I imagine these are somewhat hit or miss and mine was a miss. The first few notes of the scale are pleasant enough but the last four and especially the last two start to turn sour. In addition, striking one caused the others around it to vibrate and since they are poorly tuned, the result was a clashing cacophony that assaults the ear and sets the teeth on edge. The construction is solid but the tuning is poor. Definitely the kind of thing you really need to see and hear in person to buy.

Steel Tongue Drum has beautiful soothing sound
I totally enjoy having the steel tongue drum I just purchased. The price is reasonable. It creates beautiful soothing music. The size of the drum is small, so I can place it on the coffee table or kitchen counter for convenience use. It also becomes a conversation piece when I have visitors.

It is interesting
It has a nice sound that can be modulated by how it is struck as well as how you may use your hands to quiet it, much like a bell. I just didn't get it though, and am hoping to get a glockenspiel instead.

Nice Sound
Bought this as a gift for my dad and he took to it like a fish to water after a lifetime never playing instruments (and always dreaming of steel drums)- From what I can tell in videos it's a very nice tone.

Fun and Relaxing
This drum produces a beautiful sound that is very soothing. Comes with a storage bag and book of songs. Everyone enjoys playing this when they come to my home.

A lot of fun. Not for thumb drumming, but the stick mallets sound great
Great sound. Fun to play around with. Needs a flat surface for full sound. Not much sound when using the thumb mallets. The stick mallets sound much better.
