Big hit
This toy was a big hit for my two kids 2 1/2 and 1 yr old. Pegs do come out all the way so watch your little ones. However this is good for teaching my daughter about different sizes since she needs to figure out which peg goes into which hole. Product is definitely sturdy and durable, but excessive pounding of wood on wood does leave some wear - as would be expected. We are really happy with this product.

Thanks for making toys in the U.S.!!!
This is just a great classic toy. Obviously needs some supervision (would you really give your kid a hammer and then walk away?!). The end of the hammer did mark up the wall, but I think it will wipe off fairly easily. (the paint came off the end of the hammer when it rubbed against the wall). Overall though, a great toy that was NOT made in China!!! Will keep looking for Made in USA/Canada options for our children's toys!

Hammer, Hammer bang bang.
One of his favorite birthday toys. One of the pegs was quite loose but he enjoys pushing that one down by hand.

Needed a real hammer and serious force!
This toy looks great and seems well made. Unfortunately you'll need an actual hammer and considerable force to even move the pegs. Returned the item. I don't see how any baby would enjoy this toy.

It's okay
The toy we received suffers some of same defects reported by others. Though advertised as snug-fitting, one green peg drops out of hole at slightest jarring of the bed, 2 yellow pegs slide through too easily, 2 red (largest) pegs are impossible for an average child to budge. We had hoped that Made in USA would mean a toy of better exactness. It's noisy. On the plus side, the bed is beautifully designed and finished. And, the defects in the toy we received could be turned into a learning experience stimulating the child to imagine ways he or she could remedy these. Can the too-skinny peg be wrapped with duct tape? The too-fat ones be sanded? The too-fat ones be perfectly fine after a break-in period of hard pounding? The green, yellow and red pegs be returned to the manufacturer for replacement? The noise level reduced by placing moleskin on the pegs or on the hammer? Also might the manufacturer certify the amount of lead present, if any, in the paint? Or, does Made in USA mean that we can safely assume zero? How about certifying the decibel level? This would give adults a possible opportunity to teach child about sometimes having to wear hearing protection when using tools. Thank you for the opportunity to post a review.

Durable Heirloom toy
This is the best pounding bench out there. The pegs are tight enough to stay in while my 1 yr old grandson wildly pounds then we turn it over and hammer the pegs the other way. They will come out but not easily and not at all if on a surface because they end up flush at the bottom. This is worth hour money. A keeper.

A hit with our grandson
Got this for our 18 month old grandson. It was and is (at almost 2 now) his favorite toy. Plays with it every day.

Good quality, pegs are hard to hammer
I like the wood and the quality of this piece, however you practically need a real hammer to get some of the pegs in. Maybe they will loosen over time, but out of the box I could get only one peg to hammer down flush. Currently it's impossible for my son to hammer any of them even a few centimeters, luckily all he cares about is the noise right now.
