John Smith?
I am so happy to see and read another purge book. It was great and even left some questions hanging, well at least one big one. Sam is a great writer and I enjoy all his books, but his purge books are the best! Please keep writing them and I will keep buying and reading them. Will we find out about the lady with two "kids" and will we see where John and Donna head up to. Please please tell us!Oh by the way just buy the books about "The Purge and all the books surrounding them.

Looks like another excellent start to a great series....
John Smith was not going anywhere in particular until it all went from zero to 60 in mere minutes. One moment fighting boredom and then ambushed by a stuffed teddy bear and a woman with two deadly kids...From there it only got worse as he escaped only to walk into the midst of a war between opposing sides, neither of which has any vested interests in his staying alive.... Oh, and let's not forget the reappearance of the ghouls complicating life for all involved. Sounds like an interesting day and boredom has long since vanished....

Thumbs up
Another great read by Sisavath. Spoiler alert. This one starts with John Smith at his campfire with two rabbits spitted and cooking. Of course John Smith isn't his real name but to John. A name, is a name is a name. John was with Black Tide which is where he got his training. He's one very capable guy. John isn't very big. He's 5'10" and weighs only about 150 pounds. He's fit as hell though. He left Black Tide after Darby Bay which is where he lost his mentor. John knows Hertford, Lara and Peters. He also knows Hertford is running Black Tide now that Lara has disappeared. John just took off his uniform and walked away. He never said goodbye to his former colleagues or commanders.John walked out of Texas and right now he's watching three bozo's who are approaching his camp fire. He knows they want what he is cooking along with everything he has. The three think they will win. John knows they won't and proves it shortly after by killing all three. He's proficient as hell with his Glock hand gun. The three bozo's?? Not so much.John is walking and heads into a big city. The name is on a sign but he can't make it out and decides to call the place Mist because the whole city is covered in fog. There are cars and trucks all over the streets. John is looking for a storage facility which every large city has. He's not interested in Wal-Mart or any of the other stores. He also knows that ghouls are still around and a city like this would be a place they would nest in. John wants to find the storage facility, get what he needs and get the hell out.He does find the building he's looking for and the locked entrance. He's looking for a way in when a huge teddy bear loaded with bricks hits him. He's down. When he wakes up his hands are tied behind his back and ropes secure his legs. A woman and two kids are responsible for his being captured. Of course his silver coated knife, Glock and his backpack are missing. The woman tells her two kids to get ready for tonight.John can smell death all through this building and he's wondering just what "tonight" will be all about. He knows he has to get out and proceeds to free himself. The little girl comes back and opens the door. John grabs her but she manages to scream notifying Ma and her brother. Johns does get out of the building and leaves the three crazies behind.Once out he heads for Archers to look for weapons. Once there he finds two pistols and a knife. The place has been looted many times but there are guns lying everywhere in the country and are easy to find. Of course he doesn't have silver tipped ammo like he had for his Glock but a weapon is a weapon is a weapon.John is getting ready to leave when three people appear outside the store. They have horses and hear him. They open fire.So begins one damned fine read. This one has John, Mags, Clark, Donna, Freddy, Freddy's men, a John who teams up with Mags and Clark, a wounded Donna, Freddie and his crew trying to kill Mags and her crew, a John who tells Mags part of his story and a Mags who tells John part of hers and Clarks, a fight at Archers, the ghouls that show up at night, a John who sticks with Mags until he can make his escape, a John who would rather not be around others, a John who is perfectly capable of surviving on his own, an ambush and John Smith doing his best to survive, stay alive and help a girl named Donna.Five Stars.

Always a great read
Solid characters and fast action, mostly believable scenarios. Enjoyable story where most stupid people end up dead, thankfully. Great when you have Kindle Unlimited to binge read a whole series in a day.

Eh
Sam really likes his secrets and secrets are fun but get annoying when you don’t let your readers in on your secrets...eventually. Like for real, what was in Buck’s mysterious building ?

New Hero, Same World
Excellent new hero in the same old dangerous world. Book flowed very fast, I had a hard time putting it down. Great storyline and I'm very interested in seeing where it goes.

Excitingly good
John Smith travels into "Mist City" just looking for supplies! Bad guys are no problem for this bad guy, but when he's taken out by a Teddy Bear...uh, oh! The action begins. I got this book on a whim to read something different, and I wasn't disappointed. The characters talked about things that were possibly related to the Purge series, that piqued my interest, so now I'm going to read those.

So many possibilities in The Purge universe.
So many possibilities in the purge universe. Can't wait for the enevitable twist at the end of the series (again). Sisavath's writing style lends itself well to suspense and desperation. just when you think things could not get any worse for our hero or heroine they inevitably do. and just when you think there is no way out and no rescue coming, the twist in the narrative represents itself in all it's glory. It is also very refreshing to see that the Shakespearean tragedy of a story has not been lost in our age of heroes triumphant.

Good!
Classic non-stop western action story entwined in a post-apocalyptic world. Even if the main character isn't, at first, sympathetic, he strangely gets likeable. Good trilogy.
