Okay I read the directions, the vacuum process is the hardest part. In between bags open the top and let the heat bar cool otherwise it will seal the bag before you can vacuum out the air. Make sure you push down that rubber air release valve to get a good seal. With a family and curiosity of kids that piece will get list first. I would recommend this unit for single adults with patience. I got my meatballs sealed and I was happy.

I found that I could get this to seal bags just fine, but the vacuum aspect just didn't seem to want to work 99% of the time.I had read the directions as well as the Q&A's on the product site. All edges were dry, bags were done that were of differing sizes, varying amounts of room length from seam edges. I only got 2 bags to successfully vacumn. All others either didn't do so at all or Only vacuumed a tiny bit of air out.Sometimes it would rub and run until I hit the button to stop it.I know I'm new to these things, but I think that I should have had better success than this even during the learning curve.PS. It was also not the best design to clean. A small soace to work with and there is a small plastic piece that sticks up inside. I had one attempt to seal and vac that actually worked and a tiny bit of liquid got in there at the bottom of that piece. I wasn't certain I could ensure adequate cleaning in future considering how it is designed.

Have been using this product for about 6 weeks with no trouble. Great little vacuum sealer that doesn't take up much space. Perfect for small items that could fit into a gallon size ziploc bag.

A very powerful machine that was easy to use if you follow the directions. It is much better than the one we had. It's able to seal with no trouble and of course vacuum pack. We use this to extend the life of our food and also to save space in our refrigerator on our boat when we do long distance trips. I might also say that it is very compact and easy to stow away. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

The item SOMETIMES works, the clips that hold it shut, do not actually provide anything exception the ability to not flip the top open it does not provide tension/pressure on the bag to make a seal, you have to press hard on the top of it and hold your hand there the entire time, until it stops. The Machine does not make a seal without applying pressure. So it is NOT automatic. But you get what you pay for, I got this on a lightening Deal for $16. So I do not recommend this product if you are planning on using it often, because it took me a long time to get 10 items vacuum sealed, again I had to keep pressing on the top with a significant amount of force ( even sometimes that would not apply a seal to suck the air out).

make sure that the bag is in the vaccuum suction section or the bag will not vacuum seal and only seal the bag. Works well for the cheap cost. works with higher quality bags as well

Our ZipLok brand vacuum sealer went out, just as we were starting to bag up several pounds of pulled pork. We ordered this as a "disposable" replacement for temporary use. Man, was I wrong. This little device is EXCELLENT. For just under $20, we get equivalent performance to our previous sealer, in a MUCH more compact unit. Even more than that, this little thing is QUIET! The vacuum on this little thing is surprisingly potent, and fewer "bells and whistles" actually makes it easier to use. The only thing this one doesn't have that our ZipLok did would be the vacuum marinade capacity. We'll need to find a way to replace that feature, as it is something we use. For bagging, however, we found another rare gem for a fraction of the cost, with an elegant simplicity and ease of storage that is generally not found in other models. I paid over $250 for a previous model, and that one was both LOUD and fickle. I'll give up the "auto start" feature in a heartbeat, when it means the sealer will consume about 1/8 the previously required storage space and operation generates a small fraction of the sound/noise. If all you need is a simple bagging solution, I can honestly give this unit 5 stars, across the board. Performance for the price is OUTSTANDING!

Our Foodsaver died, and I sent it back. Because we can't live without one, I decided to get one of these because the price makes it almost a no-brainer. When used with their bags, it works fine. It's not as fancy as a Foodsaver, but at one-third the price it does the job fine.
